David C Kindred Toronto, Canada From: "Brian Evans" To: SUFFOLK-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Even more about 'and', etc Date: Wed, 4 Jul 2001 21:02:52 +0100 Allow me to digress even further off-topic by referring to the story of an English grammar lesson, after which one hassled teacher was explaining to another the subtleties of an error by one of her pupils: "John, where Philip had had 'had', had had 'had had'; 'had had' ha

Relatives of mine were living there in 1881 census: Charles BAALHAM (b.1840) and his wife Sarah, mother Elizabeth BAALHAM (nee REEDE), charles' son Robert BAALHAM (b.1875). 11. White's Directories - please read if yu require a look-up [0.977767]
Willing though I am to do these look ups, I _have_ to have a place name. They are listed by Hundred (the old districts) and then by town, village and hamlet - there are no cities in Suffolk, although city status will be granted to one or two towns at the celebration of the Queen's Jubilee next year and Ipswich has applied to be recognised as a city. There is no way anyone could trawl through the whole book just looking for a name - several old Suffolk names crop up all over the place anyway. Also, I have t

Hi all, Having obtained a micro fishe reader can SKS tell me where to acquire (buy or preferably hire) the films/plates I might require - Norfolk/Suffolk. I thought I could obtain them from the LDS, but while there can get them for you they do not allow them off site and have to be viewed on their premises. As my local LDS (Maidstone) has limited hours of access and is invariably fully booked up for weeks in advance this does not really help, as I imagine it could take considerable time to sift thru the
