1. RE: [SFK-UK] Registration districts [1]
Alison It isn't Mutford. There are Halston and Lexden districts in Essex but I don't know whether they would extend to Worlington. You can find registration districts at http://www.jhoddy.demon.co.uk/murrels/ or http://www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/REG/ess.htm There is also Worlingham and Worlingworth that sound similar. Sometimes people got their birthplaces confused. My ancestor Martha JOLLY gave her birthplace as Wickhambrook in the census but was actually born at Wickham Market. Jenny -----Original Me
2. [SFK-UK] lookup for 1841 and 1861 census [1]
Hello, please could some kind person help me with a brick wall, I have been trying to break through for ages. Could someone lookup in 1841 census Joseph BURBERY (any spelling), I do not have any information about him other than he died before 1851. Also I would like some information about his son Thomas BURBERY from the 1861 census, he was married to Maria, they had a son Alfred in 1855, they were living in Thornton Heath at the time of his birth in 1855. I know this isn't technically a Suffolk request, but

9. Re: [SFK-UK] Morley Family - Hammer Found and Wall fallen Down [1]
I would just like to say a special thanks to Margaret Tory who went to the records office for me yesterday and gave a lot of her time to look up my family in the 1861 and 1871 Census. The lookup has confirmed that David Morley and his wife Sarah were living apart during this period. Thanks again to the list for their advice because at least now I understand how much time and trouble it took Margaret to do this lookup. Thanks Margaret. Best Regards Mike
10. Re: [SFK-UK] Query re 1891 Census [1]
Hello Mike, The best you can do is navigate to the required area from the initial search screen, then look at the District Descriptions for each District. They usually show a list of Streets etc covered in that district. If you let me have your g-grandfather's 1881 details I'll see if I can help. Pam, With the clue I can now see it is harness maker. I wonder if Temperance managed to help her husband keep an orderly house. By the way, the only Hudgell found in Stowmarket in 1851 appears to be Hannah Hudgell aged 51 born Stowmarket In 1841 she is 45 and has a son Elijah aged 14. Regards, Heather

She married David FISH of Manningtree who was a fisherman/mariner. Robert Jennings and Elizabeth Fish were witnesses. >From other records I know that David FISH was born about 1799 and Mary (Mary Ann) was born about 1806. Hi list, I am looking for a Sarah Lee who i think may have died as a child, she was born 1814 Sudbury Suffolk .In the 1841 census for Castle Hedingham her parents had another child named Sarah b.1830 which i find unusual to have two of the same name in one family. They had a daughter Caroline that died also at the age of 1 yr in Castle Hedingham which is why i am thinking along these lines. Please could someone take a look if possible or just let me know if you come across the death of a Sarah Lee chil

25. [SFK-UK] Announcing The List Surname DNA Project [1]
Hello fellow listers! I want to advise that a new project is underway; the research of our origins using DNA and in particular the Y-chromosome which is only passed down the male line from father to son. After several years of research I believe, although not with any great certainty, that there are two distinct family groups of LIST. The first is of Germanic origin whilst the second is English. The English group first appear in England around 1400 whilst the first mention of the German group is arou
