I wonder does anyone have access to a list of Sussex parishes in 1815?

GOSDEN, Midhurst, SSX, and ELDRIDGE, SSX?LONDON?/KENT
I have in my possession, the will of a John GOSDEN, who died on 6th November
1891, possibly in RHurst HouseS Midhurst, Sussex.
In this will he bequested a considerable sum (for that time) to my
Grandfather, Percy ELDRIDGE.
I assume (until I learn differently), that he is probably Percy EldridgeUs
father.
From the will Percy was born on 11th Jan 1873, where I have yet to trace, but
possibly in the Midhurst area of Sussex!

My line of Patching ancestors lived in Southwick, Brighton, Withyham,
Brasted, and Godstone from 1672 (as far as I have been able to trace back)
to the mid 1800's when they came to Texas. It seems to me that the men
moved after marriages every generation or couple of generations.
My question is: can anyone tell me what people did to make livings. How
can I find out? I am trying to find out how the common man lived. Oral
history has it that they were "landed gentry" but I find no basis for this
as yet.

I can't be 100% sure about #59, but definitely Ditchling Rise is still there.
It's a long row of late Victorian terraced houses near London Road station.
I'm sure the Encyclopaedia of Brighton by Carder that some people have
mentioned here would tell you more.
