I am seeking information on Philip Tanner and his wife Mary, of Chester Co., PA. Philip had a will dated 1750-51. His children were: Philip, Joseph, Hannah (who married William Henry), Rachel (who married John Dickey), Rebecca (who married John Crosier) and James. Joseph and James Tanner and the Templeton family were in Wilkes Co., N.C. in the 1780's. These Tanners along with some Templetons were from Chester Co., PA. I am seeking information of Edward Tanner who was living in the Shippingport area of Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY about 1826-41. Edward was listed as a carpenter in 1836. He was a river pilot and millwright in 1838-39. Edward married Sarah W. Elder on July 27, 1826 in Jefferson Co., KY. She was the daughter of William Elder, Sr., who was deceased at the time of this marriage. William Elder was a riverman himself as he operated a ferry around Breckinridge Co., Ky. at some time. Hi Gary, Below are descendants of Edward Tanner and Nancy Ann Christmas, based on family bible records (William not mentioned but may be their son). Bible said Edward died of a "nervous affliction" in 1821, so you can rule him out as the one who married Sarah Elder. No son Edward mentioned in bible either.
