Does anyone know about this Minerva/Manerva who was living with Stephen and Martha Breeding in 1880 in Rhea County, Dist. #2? Was she Martha's daughter? Was Martha Stephen's second wife? Were the Breedings related to the Thompson's. Manerva was shown as age 18 as house keeper for the Breedings.
She is a person of interest to me because I believe she could be the sister to Maree Caroline and Eliza Jane Thompson from both Bradley and Rhea Counties. Maree married Colonel Pleming and Eliza Jane married Joh
Hi Wanda:
Welcome to our list! I have a William Richard Thompson in my line from Marion Co., but I don't think he ever went to Bradley Co. I'll take a look through my notes and see if I have anything else. I'll get back to you...

Does anyone have info. in their family trees regarding any of these three? I am trying to tie them together as brothers or cousins. In 1860 census for Bradley Co.,Tn. There is a Richard Thompson-born 1830 with wife Martha and three daughters (Maree Caroline, Eliza Jane and Manerva). Irby Thompson with wife Polly lives close by. Were they brothers? Who was their father? I can't find anything on Richard before 1860 nor after 1860. The same goes for Irby. An Irby W. Thompson and a William A. Thompson were lis
I don't know about everyone else, but when I find death certificates, they often contain a cause of death that is not commonly used now. I just found this website which has some great links to finding out what those causes really mean.

Is anyone else on the list researching Stephen Thompson who was b. abt. 1764 in Granville, NC, enlisted at Spartanburg, SC in the Rev. War, son of George Thompson and brother of Burwell Thompson of Franklin Co., TN? I was told by another researcher that he married Nancy Owen in Warren Co., KY on 12/27/1800.
I'm trying to locate more on him to see if he is my ancestor and I'm not coming up with much to go on.
Thanks for any help...

Donna,
Does Tennessee have any death certificates online like we do in
Missouri?
Also, is there a place that I can check online regarding the Civil War
records... just wondering about Mary SCONCE THOMPSON's brothers'
chances of serving since we're talking the same time period??

Sorry Lanita. My Thompson line sort of dead-ends right about where yours
does. Mine stops with William H. Thompson and his wife Carrie Roark in
Franklin County. Wm. was born around 1815 and both he and his wife died
young, leaving several orphans scattered among other family. I have found
connections to Burwell Thompson in Franklin County and we believe my William
might have been a son of Stephen Thompson, one of Burwells brothers. These
Thompsons came from Spartanburg, SC originally. I can't say that
Just checking to make sure... no one on this list knows anything about
this Melton/Milton THOMPSON and Mary SCONCE, and any of their children?
IF I have the right family, in 1870 Bedford Co. census the children are:
Children: John D. (1850-)
R. G. [female] (1857-)
I. H. [male] (1860-)
R.W. [male] (1862-)
M.E. [female] (1865-)
E.L. [male] (1866-)
Ele [female] (1869-)

Here's a link to what's available at the TN Archives in Nashville. Davidson
County includes Nashville.

As for Mary Sconce's brothers and their service....I didn't see any with the
surname Sconce or anything similiar to it. Doesn't mean they didn't serve
though.

Hi Rachel,
These names you mention ring a lot of bells. The James Thompson that lived next door to William Thompson could be a James Thompson born in NC who was married to a Margaret Buchannan. They lived most of their lives in Davidson and Williamson counties. However they may have been in Wilson Co. Wasn't there one of those countied near Nasville the parent county for all the rest at one time. Anyway there was a William Thompson who was a very wealthy merchant in Shreveport, La. who was married to

Hi All,
I have the same problem with my ggg grandfather Lewis/Louis
Thompson who was born abt 1813, it was said that he was born
in VA but I can't find proof of that. He shows up in Hancock Co. TN
in about 1837 or 8 and I find him in census there until 1860 or
up to 1870 but then he disappears again? he married Sarah Gilbert whose was
from Lee Co. VA, so we know he was in Lee Co. VA
and I found a Lewis Thompson on the 1835 Tax list for there. I
have been at a standstill with Lewis from the beginning of
Brenda,
What kind of information do you need on this family? Marriage info.,

Hello and Thank you,
I am looking for Mary Thompson. I don't know who her parents were. I was
told her husband was Charles Bolton. They had my grandmother in the year of
1881. They also say that my Mary came from Scotland but married Charles Bolton
and married and lived in England. Can anyone look up the marriage or the birth
of my grandmother ? Grandmother name was , Jane Louise Bolton born 11/1881,
in England.
Thank you for any information that you can give me,

Hello everyone:
We have some new members on our mailing list. I just wanted to say welcome to all of you and thank you for subsribing. Please feel free to post any thoughts or questions you may have and let us know who and where you're researching.
I can trace my Thompsons back to Franklin Co. TN in the late 1700's. Most of my line moved into Marion Co. around 1830 and stayed there for the most part.
Good luck in your research!
