I agree a lot of Thorne's came to Canada who were loyalists. Please if
you think this may be check the loyalist records. They had to make a
sworn statement that they were loyal to the Queen and these records are
quite useful. Most of these Thorn/Thorne's settled in the Maritimes

Our Thorne/Thorn family came from Germany to York County PA in about 1769.
From there they came to Jeffersontown/Louisville in KY. Does anyone else
connect to this line?
Paulina
Here is what I have on my website regarding our Thorne/Thorn line.
Paulina Our Thorne Ancestors
Our first Thorne ancestor was Peter Thorne. He passed away in Jeffersontown,
Kentucky in 1798. We think he was probably buried on the farm on Chenoweth
Run.
Peter came to America from Germany in 1769. He arrived in Philadelphia in
October on a ship named the Crawford. There were 20 other young german men. The
ships register can be found in the Strassberg books in most large librarys.

My search is for information about the marriages of Jane THORN b. 1740 in

John, Thanks for the info. I did find that in my Thorn family some used
the "e" and some didn't - yes and even siblings . I have a cousin that
still has the Thorn Homestead in Ohio using the "e" on his name. We thought
at first that we weren't related. Et

Merlyn, Thanks for the reply. I have always wondered if there were any
others on this list besides me. I believe yours is the first response I
have ever gotten from the list. I have concrete proof of my Thorn family in
Jackson Co Ohio from 1816 on. SOme moved to Iowa in late 1840's then in the
1860s some(my gg grandpa) moved to Missouri and one Robert Carter Thorn on
to Texas. We have recently found the Prince William Co Thorn family with
very strong possibilities as being our line which would go back

Interested in any connection that might be available to George W. Thorn and sons John D. Thorn and Joseph McCool Thorn..... Help!
.1. GEORGE W. THORN was born Nov 11, 1791 in Pennsylvania, and died Jan 24, 1867 in Henry Co. Ohio. He married SARAH MCDONALD Abt. 1814. She was born Nov 10, 1796 in New Jersey, and died May 06, 1865 in Rome, Jefferson Co. Wisconsin.
Notes for GEORGE W. THORN:resided in Belvidere, New Jersey, Eastern Pa., Wisconsin and Ohio.In addition to John D. and Joseph McCool thorn, Georg
Jay, I have done that and everything matches except two females under 10 in
the 1810 Prince William Co census. That could be two daughters that may
have died or two daughters I never found who they married. One of the
females showed up in the 1820 Jackson Co Ohio census that I couldn't account
for. So actually only 1 female off. Sometimes they took in orphanes etc.
so it's really hard to pipoint without names. Thanks for the suggestion.

Some of our Thornes moved to Lawrence County, Indiana in the very early
1800s. I don't have my records with me but I think they were the children and
grandchildren of Anthony Thorne who was married to Rebecca Brentlinger. They came
from Louisville, KY.
Could your Andrew have been part of this line?

Gosh, everyone has traced their Thorn's to other countries. How wonderful.
Maybe I will find some info on mine. Martha Ann Thorn and Arnold Whitaker
are my Great Grandparents.

Elmer, and others,
The decendants of william Thorn(e)c.1617 of NY do cover the entire country,
actually starting in MA. They migrated slowly from NY to NJ, PA, VA and so
on. The PA Thorn(e)'s went to MD, Ohio and WV and elsewhere including
Canada. the VA lines went from there to all over the South and South West.
I find it interesting that my Thorne and Chew lines both take the paths
west but I have yet to find a connection between the two although they wound
up in the same towns and counties.

Hello All,
I am glad that someone started this roll call. As the list owner, it is
something I used to do regularly, but have let slide for the past year or
two. The info presented here by various people will hopefully allow others
to find a connection. My THORN line begins in Gloucester County, VA and
moves through VA over time through several Martin Thorns. It is probable
that the American line began with a William Thorn who arrived in Gloucester,
VA from England aboard The Safety (in 1635). He had s
