2. Re: [TMG] Fixing Names [1]
In my wife's family, following the Norwegian custom of naming the first-born son after his grandfather, we have four generations of males named Sevald Sevaldson Lund (Lund being the farm name). The second generation down had TWO sons named Sevald (Sevaldson, of course), and each of these had sons named Sevald, making for a total of six. The start of this line, which is as far back as our present data goes, was Sevald Hansen Lund. One could presume that his father was Hans Sevaldson, but we don't have that r

Caroline, With Item Tips turned on: 1. The memo display overwrites the tag descriptions that I find so useful in the so-called Name/Place column; 2. The memo display is not scrollable, so any memo text longer than a few lines cannot be completely viewed--and if you employ split memos or include resea

Thanks in advance! As I pointed out in a recent article in the RUG of Arlington newsletter, probably the best thing is to transfer the whole TMG5 folder. You'll wind up transferring a lot of stuff that isn't needed, but it beats trying to find all the individual files (unless you've read the ar
9. Re: [TMG] Ancestry Images [1]
Cheri, I didn't use to record the image number, but I found them awfully hard to find again without it. Since Ancestry online is my true source, not the microfilm it is digitized from, I wanted the shortest path to finding it again in case I want to re-decipher the handwriting. I would strongly recommend recording the image number. I also record sheet and page numbers. Frequently I record a page number in the form "page 123/456" using "/" to indicate the several pagings that are usually found. Every ind

16. [TMG] Box chart [1]
Hi I am BK6 user. I am using XP on my PC. I need to print a box chart on A4 (close to 8 1/2 x 11) or A3 pages. It is a big tree so my intention is to split it to separate branches and to print each branch on a separate page. I read that it is possible to "move" the boxes in TMG and in this way to enter more boxes in one page. 1. Is TMG the right software for this specific need? 2. Ver 4 or Ver 5? Gaby

I hope my daughter never sees this.
