1. [TMG] Husband & Wife in Same Report [1]
I am trying to learn! I have managed to get somewhat decent INDIVIDUAL reports and endnotes on a husband and wife. Now I would like to see what they would look like "combined" - as they might be in a book. I thought if I tried a descendent narrative - starting with the woman's father - that the report would combine the information on the daughter AND her husband. It didn't. Can I do this? Maybe I didn't select something I should have. Thanks for any help. Barbara ______________________________________

I tend to agree with you Jim. I don't have the numbers, but I've always suspected part of the problem is the lack of conventional memory. I did use Win2K until I got my DSL connection. My ISP doesn't have a Win2K driver for the internal DSL modem. I had previously used EarthLink but they didn't have DSL service. This has recently changed, and I'm in the process of going back to EarthLink. Once that happens, I'm back to Win2K. Rick On Sun, 15 April 2001, "James E. (Jim) Campbell" wrote: > > Ron Ber

4. [TMG] Dates are driving me crazy [1]
Okay, need help in settling the date problem. I understand all that change in 1752 from Greg to Julian but when I see the date listed one time as 28 Feb 1698 and then another time as 28 Apr 1698, which date do I actually use????? Should I listed them both? Arggghhhhhh Or does everyone goes crazy over this also? 8. [TMG] Estate Files [1]
Many will files (and Administration and Orphans Court files) have numerous papers in each file: will, inventory, account, petititions, etc. Each one of these documents can provide important data. If I create a will-inventory, will-petition, will-renunciation source, then I think all these will be individual sources on the MSL - yet they all came from one file folder. How do others handle all these various papers as sources. Thanks for any tips. Barb _____________________________________________________

To be fair, one thing that didn't import into Legacy was Witness tags. Since I've only used TMG for about three and a half months, I didn't have very many witness tags. I was just getting to the critical decision point of how to handle census data in TMG. My thought was to use witness tags extensively for this data. Had I waited another month or two to make the switch, maybe I wouldn't come to the same conclusion as I am today. There might be a way to import the witness tags over. I had so few records

Terry - Instead of putting "citing *Marriage Records of Berkeley County, Virginia for the > Period 1781-1854*, ed. and comp. by Guy Keesecker (Baltimore: Genealogical > Publishing Co., Inc., 1983)" into the [CD] every time, Gray Matters can add the text directly to the output forms, thereby eliminating the need to retype it or use the F3 key. It will already be included as part of the master source and will show in all forms to which he has added the text (short, long, biblio). Wouldn't this be a simpler

IF YOU ARE NOT AN AOL USER: If you have not gone to Find>Folders and asked it to find everything AOL, you may want to try this. Recently my son and I (each with new HP systems) were dismayed at the available resources, at boot up -- something like 35-40%. He contacted HP Support and among the items that can be safely removed is all of AOL stuff (the computer will not let you delted AOLfix; but, it is a very small file.) Family Group Sheets (FGS) is an excellent way to preserve the results of your research. Copies of source documents and notes are one thing, but future researchers would also like to know _your_ assessment of those facts. TMG provides a number of ways that you can print your stored data in FGS form.

Here's my two cents: I purchased a Handspring Visor for a few specific reasons: they are the same price as the Palm versions, the USB cradle is faster than Palm's serial cradle and the 'Springboard' slot for items such as gps etc is easier than connecting a cable to use those devices with Palm. If I had it to do over again, I would consider a handheld computer, like the Compaq models, as they as more of a computer rather than a handheld. Color hasn't been a factor but memory could be. I would not suggest

Chuck - You must be looking at either the short footnote or the bibliographic entry in your Mills book. Neither of these entries identifies the name of the head of the household. However, the far left-hand column shows the long forms (pp. 73-75) and, with the exception of the Census Compendium, the very first element in all of the long footnote forms is the name of the head of household. For every one of the long footnotes that I am seeing in Mills, there is some combination of the following: (1) page n
