1. RE: [TMG] place styles/tags with "same" location? [1]
Hi Tony unfortunately a place can only have one style. To get the 2 versions you need to create a place that is slightly different eg add -USA to the country, it wont print but will give you 2 places in the MPL. I have just caught up with all the responses created by my posting last night. I've been at work all day and just finished reading all the TMG postings for today. Thank you for everyones responses. I'm glad to find other confused souls out there. thanks Lynda for hyjacking my thread! :) I'm one of those strange souls that reads the manual before diving into a program. That's where TMG throws me. I have printed out most of the tips and hints from everyone or every site I am aware of. I guess it's

Hi Andy, Maybe Lee and/or the publisher would be willing to release a version on CD. However, I have no idea if it could be protected from wholesale copying. Richard
7. RE: [TMG] Embedded Citations in 5.06 [1]
When I try to insert an embedded citation in a memo field, the screens come up where I can select the source, and then the surety, but when I click OK on the surety screen, it takes me back to the memo field, but no citation is pasted in. According to the material that I read, they don't plan to charge for anything else than what is already a subscription service. Both Ancestry & Genealogy offered different census materials via subscription. Since I have an Ancestry subscription, I don't expect to be able to access the censuses on Genealogy without buying that membership also. I think a lot of folks are fretting over nothing. 9. [TMG] 5.06 - List of Tasks problem [1]
Hello all, Has anyone tried to create a list of tasks report linked to a repository? I can't do it using the repository ID/number. When I try on repository ID I get the following error msg: SQL: Column 'MAJNUM' is not found. 747 XFILTERTASKS At this point many of the menu options become unavailable (greyed out) including the File>Exit options. When is use the Windows X option to exit the program I get a string of errors starting with: Alias 'GOAPP' not found Object 'GOAPP' not found And so on.
10. Re: [TMG] TMG 5.0# for good. [1]
Remove the one that is listed as The Master Genealogist Gold Edition or The Master Genealogist Silver Edition on the Add/Remove screen. Then you can delete the folder C:\TMGW and you should be fine. I would add that you might want to backup the version 4.0d data and the version 5.x data first and save it in a safe place off of the computer before you start. If you happen to remove the wrong program, it will not remove your data so you can simply reinstall the 5.x program again and be on your way. DO NOT

17. [TMG] TMG v5.06; still same old problems [1]
I've installed the 5.06 update. I ran VFI, optimize, and re-index. I still have the same mysterious problems that have plagued me since last summer, namely: 1) on the picklist, a woman whose first name was Rose still appears as "Bob" under her married name (no, she has no name variant tags that call her Bob!) 2) my repositories all appear with completely random addresses, ie my parents are shown as probably at a ruinous Norwegian farmstead and San Francisco's Sutro Library is shown as located in Lit

19. [TMG] research notes [1]
Hi Group, I am back on the list after a long winter of illnesses in the family and two deaths. I tried to keep up by reading the archives, but got behind on that too. There was one letter that I read and meant to follow through on, but now I cannot seem to find it in the Archives. It was from someone who was working on a program to use for storing research notes. There was just the one letter and it gave a link to his site. The program was going to in SQL, I think. Do any of you remember this letter?

24. Re: [TMG] maximum number of roles in a tag [1]
Yes, TMG is good - but what I'm searching for is the rationale that supports a limitation of one role per person. So far I haven't seen any. Dick PS: someone else said that the TMG4 repair routine would eliminate multiple roles for a person. You might want to check that after making a backup. 25. [TMG] v5.06 Photos attached to individuals persons [1]
I just noticed that all of my pictures that are attached to individuals, as opposed to events, are now missing. My file size is now smaller, also. I had run Validate, Optimize and Reindex. And it did. I can go back to an earlier backup but has anyone had this problem? Any ideas why all of the pictures appearing in the Image window are now gone - this is a considerable number. Should I not Validate, Optimize and Reindex? Thank you for any ideas. Sandy
