4. Re: [TMG] Witnesses in Individual Detail Report [1]
If I interpret Greg's question correctly, I think he's asking if the ID report for Person A can include all details of witnesses to events for Person A. I've asked this question before, and the answer seems to be no, there is no option in TMG that will allow that information to be included in the ID report. Lorna's answer will only result in Person A's ID report showing all events for OTHER people where Person A is a witness. I, too, would very much like to see the ID report capable of showing EVERYTHING

6. Re: [TMG] Utility program [1]
I assume you have the same problems I have had. Joh Cardinal wrote me this: Basically, you have to switch the collating sequence (temporarily) while using TMG Utility. I regret that this is the case, but the database access software I use does not support all the collating sequences supported by TMG. - and it worked fine! Try it! 7. Re: [TMG] Moving Citations to a Different Tag [1]
Hi Virginia, This is what I do when I know there is a citation already created that I want to use again: I open the tag where I originally used the citation, then open the citation itself. Close that citation and tag and go to the tag where you want to use the citation. When you select 'add a new citation' and hit F3, the first citation that will appear will be the last citation you had opened. In other words the citation you want will be there. I hope I have explained this clearly. I use it all the

9. Re: [TMG] Chart Background [1]
Sheila and Ron, Once a chart is created in VCF there is no way available to select it and modify it. A wish list item to be able to do this was logged a long time ago, but it has not reached the top of the pile. Here's hoping! In the meantime, it is possible to add a white filled very large rectangle to cover the whole chart and then "sent it to back", thus obscuring the colored background. Hence don't use the Background features in the Chart Options and if you want to then add your own after the ch

13. Re: [TMG] Grey-out of the screen [1]
I'm basically doing the same thing. But, searching for what might be causing a grey-out is just something that shouldn't need to be. The main TMG window is always absolute to the system, no matter what system, otherwise Windows wouldn't work to begin with. The programmer should capture these coordinates and open and close all other screen relative to those coordinates. If TMG can't save the coordinates upon closing without a major re-write I can understand but it definitely should be in the next major upgr

16. RE: [TMG] OT Family Tree Maker CD's [1]
I have had difficulty with mine, too. I had to install the viewer on my husband's XP machine in order to read anything. (Not that they're really all *that* helpful to begin with ...) But in my case at least, the problem may have been an archaic/incompatible CD/DVD drive, not the program itself. After experiencing difficulties with other compressed disks (and finally with uncompressed disks) I finally replaced it with a new Lite-On drive that has been running like a dream. I have not yet tried the FTM cd vie
17. freeze up via master repository list [1]
Hi everyone, I hope I'm not missing something obvious or have overlooked any possible solutions in the archives, but... I'm having a recurring problem when I try to add to the repository list or edit the information for a repository. I access it when creating a source via the Master Source List--add or edit screens. When I click on "add" or "edit" in the Master Repository List window, essentially everything freezes. I try to click on "center current window" and nothing changes (it is clickable however
18. Re: [TMG] OT--online Canadian census [1]
Well, I did say that it didn't give the *full entry*, but it is the best resource I have found, after a lot of checking online for Canadian census information, for the 1871 census. I haven't found anything else that gives me access to 1871 census information that I can search by surname and find people that I didn't know about already. I have never found anything for other provinces, yet, except for very small databases uploaded by private people. Sincerely, Doreen Neilley (Alberta, Canada, with MANY ances

22. problem solved re: backup error message [1]
I posted an error message, a few days ago, that I got when I backed up in TMG. It said it couldn't read a .zip file etc. Someone was nice enough to send me a virgin app.ini file (which was the file being accessed when the message appeared), but when I named it in and brought up TMG I realized immediately I'd have to start over from scratch with all my settings and customizations. Not only was that a formidable task, I still wouldn't know why the message appeared suddenly. Named back in the old app.in
23. RE: [TMG] Why are local sentences bad? [1]
Hi Terry One reason is to make use of new features. With the arrival of WMs I want to change all my census info not just for output (which isn't my main concern yet) but for better structure and analysis as well. I have censii from different countries as well as years, and would like to ensure I get all tags, that is including local sentences and allow for why I changed to a local sentence in the first place Nikki -----Original Message----- From: Terry Reigel [mailto:terry@reigelridge.com] I, too, fin

25. RE: [TMG] Conversion error #6 on Reports [1]
Asa, The only other thing I can suggest then, other than reporting this to Support by posting on the forum, is to do the tag elimination thing anyway. Possibly you have something in one of your sentences that Word is upset about. (This is without checking back to see if it is a narrative report we're talking about here). See if you can generate the report with only birth tags selected eg, then gradually add the rest back until the problem occrs? Lorna McIntosh Waikanae, NZ -----Original Message----- From
