1. RE: [TMG] Set Living Flag Revisited [1]
That's right, Donna. So it's the short forms of the names of the various reports...LOP (List of People), LOE (List of Events), LOT (List of Tasks) etc. I also use IN (Individual Narrative) etc. But there are a raft of others that folks use. I/We should remember to define the first usage every time, but I/we aren't as conscientious as I/we should be. 4. RE: [TMG] TMG Opening Problems [1]
I got the same message. Ok did not work to continue but if you Cancel then you get Program Error Unknown Member: ROACCENTMAN I then click Cancel and TMG did not open. Afterwards, I tried again to open TM and it opened fine! FYI: I updated to TMG 6.08 by downloading the Trial Version from the website rather than doing the update. Thank you, Terry. That works although it is inconvenient when I have arrived at the Master Source List via the Tag Entry screen. That also strikes me as a small bug. 7. RE: [TMG] Supplemental Tab in Source Definition [1]
If you are using the CD for the date, and I assume for the reader to know when the email occurred, the supplemental field would hold all the emails from that person. IF you printed them, the reader would have to sort through all of them to find the right one. But if you put the text in the CD, it would print with the CD it went with. I think Ron just basically wants a way to store them, which would seem to me that a tag would work fine. Create a person for each correspondent, and link the emails to that
8. Re: [TMG] Digest comes as attachments [1]
I have been told that the way Outlook Express handles the list is why the digest doesn't work as it did with "older" lists I was on in years past. I switched to the list method and have become accustomed to that method now - I made rules to sort all TMG messages into one folder in my inbox - they are all sorted out that way anyway. 9. Re: [TMG] SSDI [1]
Richard, thanks for the insight. To address the possible ambiguity in the address, I choose to include "... reported by the Social Security Administration ..." While a disclaimer is not obvious, never the less it is there. If I am able to confirm the address, although I don't go out of my way to do so, I change the tag from "ResidenceS" to "Residence". 10. Re: [TMG] v6.08 - Methods of Handling Excessive Source Exhibits [1]
Hi Linda, I am here in the midwest too...If you really were freaked about what to save first, perhaps you should consider scanning all those filing cabinet items, and then placing them on an external hard drive. This is what I have done, that way, when we go into a tornado watch, as I run around the house shutting down the pc's and everything else, I unplug the external hard drive and take it with me and my daughter and dogs (hubby never seems to be home when we go into warnings) to the basement. 11. Report Assistance [1]
Morning list, As a semi computer literate individual trying to work with a product like TMG I was bound to make mistakes when merging datasets. Now I have discovered a problem and I have to fix it. What happened is that before merging I created the same source in both projects. When the projects merged and I started merging people I was unable to identify which source came from which dataset as they are both identical. Fortunately I still have the old project and could print off a list of the people

No, other than I can create tasks for the Roll of film and when I get to the archives, open the research log for each film. Just personal preference more than anything. 15. M0 and census listing in memo [1]
Someone recently gave a tip about how they listed the members of a family in the census in the |M0| field, and some other info. I thought I had saved it, but evidently not. I searched the archives, but couldn't find it. Can you post it again? It looked like a handy way to put a census listing in the data, without it printing all the time, but could be printed if needed? Thanks

18. April 2006 TMG-GAUG meeting...Georgia Users Group [1]
TMG-GAUG meeting -- The next meeting of the Georgia TMG User Group (TMG-GAUG) is scheduled for this coming Saturday, April 8, at 1:00 PM at the Roswell Library. Last month, we discussed the TMG Utility. Unfortunately, only a few people came. This month, we'll talk about other ways you might want to clean up your TMG files. Bring your ideas and experiences to share with the group. We'll also discuss any new items in TMG and SS, and answer questions. If you have other topics that you would like to see
19. Set Living Flag Revisited [1]
Hi John I have followed your instructions as laid out below. I have set the options in the Utility as follows: I have chosen 1917, I have checked "Use Ancestor's Events; I have checked Use Descendant's Events and have also checked Use 5 Generations Rule It seems to have a problem with birth dates after 1917 that also have a death date. For example Dad was born in 1920 and died in 2003. He has both a death and burial tag with both being primary. But the utility still lists his Living flag as ? Any i
20. RE: [TMG] Printing Journal Report [1]
Joe, I had a problem when I chose to "save and print" to a word doc. "Save and print" to a pdf file worked fine. What I found was, in the Windows task manager (WTM)(alt+ctrl+del), under the processes tab, I would show NTVDM.EXE with 95-99% cpu usage. In other words, the pc was locked up. You might want to try using the WTM to see what is actually happing to yours. 22. Re: [TMG] Data table error TMG 6.07 [1]
I know this was covered before, but I've searched the archives and cannot find the solution. While attempting to close the Project Explorer the system froze and I was forced to C-A-D to get out. Now when I try to open my project it begins in repair mode for a few seconds, then I get a message that it could not open the data tables. Can anyone point me in the right direction? 23. Re: [TMG] Prioritizing the Wishlist (was Copying Tag) [1]
Terry, Think of four aunts writing about the birth. Each letter gives a single piece of info. One mentions it was on a sunday- letter not dated. One mentions it was in April- letter not dated. Another mentions it was on the 16th of last month- but the letter isn't dated! One mentions it was last year and is dated 1875. No birth certificate or any other info found. In an ideal world four birth tags would be entered-each sourced accordingly and TMG would combine them into a fully date with each part fully
