1. Re: [TMG] Grayed Principal on adding SSN event Tag [1]
Put the SSN in the Memo field. The Detail field is for location details. I already asked this question and got no answer. Maybe by rephrasing it, it'll ring a bell with someone. The following is an excerpt from a journal narrative I generated: 1. A date is not required but I generally add a sort date later than the burial date so the SSN tag is at the end of the tags. I think the problem is that I need to put in a date. What date do I use if I don't know the date the SS# was applied for? I believe the default sentence for an SSN assumes that you put the number in the Memo field, not in the detail field. Although, even if you do put it in the detail field, the tag
8. Re: [TMG] Edit Info for Beginner [1]
First, do you have a copy of the citation manual that you are using? In other words, if you are using Mills based cites, do you have a copy of EVIDENCE by E.S. Mills? If using Lackey cites, do you have CITE by R.S. Lackey? If you don't, get a copy. They both have examples of what your citations should look like (Mills in the back of the book; Lackey throughout the text), and Lackey explains each element of each of the 14 source types. Of course, read it and do what it advises. You can get a cop

I had to reinstall TMG on my laptop. I installed V4.0 and checked it out: everything worked OK (including the "Import from ......" utility). I then applied the 4.0-4.0d update patch. The program loads and runs OK but when I select "Import from ......" I get the following on the selection menu that opens up: "[none found in IMPORT.INI]". This was provided in an earlier version of the TMG Manual, but is not in the current manual. However, you may download a copy of the File Structures (in a RTF file which may be read by most word processors) from the Wholly Genes web site . This file is _not_ up to date in that it was written for v3.6 (I think), but covers most of TMG files. ---------- Lee Hoffman
16. RE: [TMG] Backing Up the Backup [1]
I don't have that problem and I do it all the time. I run Windows 98 on my desktop and NT on my laptop. Routinely, I make two copies on floppies back to back (one to keep at home and one to take to the office with my laptop). If I have changed anything on my dataset, I do a restore as soon as I open TMG on the other machine. 23. Re: [TMG] FLAGS: What have you made flags for? [1]
Hi Bob, I guess TMG has many variables. And I suppose I should have said "individuals as opposed to families" Nevertheless, I have a flag for individuals who have twin siblings and I have not used a flag called Multibirth Flag if it exisrt in TMG. I converted my data from UFT (and Roots3) where a flag for twins already existed When I create a report I select list/people and use the filter "twins" = Y and voila, a good report. BTW my family tree has 76 sets of twins. Is your method easier or better? Just

Hi Jerry, Start by going to and duplicate all you can. Once you have the duplicate person you can delete what does not pertain and then do the same for the original person. -----Original Message----- From: Lee Hoffman [mailto:lhoffman@acm.org] Sent: Sunday, August 05, 2001 1:31 PM As for the 1850 birth, there is an assumption here also and you determine it by the setting in the Assumed Max Lifespan shown in the Advanced tab of the System Configuration Screen (Tools=>Options from the top menu). This defaults to 110 years. Response: Yes. In some cases, TMG does allow the user to set defaults.
