5. [TMG] Alias GOAPP is not found [1]
Help please! I have been running 5.02 beautifully, but this morning I have an error message: "Alias GOAPP is not found." Thoughts on what to do about this? We had a thunderstorm last evening, and a momentary electrical outage knocked my computer off. It came back on in Safe Mode, and I shut down from that, and then it re-booted normally, to all appearances. This is probably the first time that I have opened TMG since that occurrence (can't remember for sure). Thanks, Janis Walker Gilmore Pawleys Island,

So that's what a responsive developer gets when he actually tries to listen to his users and tries to implement as many of their wishes as possible. And I think we are quite a demanding bunch when it comes to those wishes. Why do you think: [snip] quote * it is the best program out there * unquote [snip] Don't get me wrong, I'm not blind to the current shortcomings of TMG 5. Dale, I'm no authority on this, but I can hazard a guess. Someone gained admittance to the DAR based on the incorrect information. To correct the information might result in their "decertification". That someone might not take kindly to being decertified, and might even be a "heavy-hitter" in the DAR. I can kind of understand why the DAR might not want to open that can of worms. Teresa I normally use the census as a source for the birth data if it is there. You can also imply a death date after the census date. I hope you know that, in order for a person to appear on the census they must be alive. :-) Myrnice To: Sent: Thursday, August 22, 2002 1:57 PM Subject: [TMG] CEN names and Add person tag > I have been adding new census information on a family that I haven't > researched and I just realized that not only could I add the bi

You have to first move the information to someplace else -- typically, an occupation would go in the memo field of an occupation tag, for example. After the information is moved, you can remove the entry, either from the place field of the individual tag, or from the Ma
18. Re: [TMG] Printing Charts TMG 5 - Win98 is the Problem! [1]
Kathy: Does this affect all VCF files in Win98? According to Wholly Genes, it affects "large" VCF files from TMG 5. My VCF file is 1,414KB, 14 generations. The dimensions are 26.625 x 106.99 inches. How large is large? I haven't experimented yet to see if smaller files work. Anyone out there had success with smaller TMG 5 VCF charts on Win98? How small? Dorothy at Wholly Genes suggested a work around: that I open the file in VCF (which works fine), then cut and paste sections of it to make smaller
19. Re: [TMG] Use of sentences [1]
Debbie I would not be in to big of a hurry to finalize your import using GEDCOM from Generations. The Press release for TMG 5.x http://www.whollygenes.com/press/pr_tmg5date.htm states that import from Generations will be available without GEDCOM. Maybe one of the update releases in the near future will support this. If is does it will be much better than any GEDCOM import. In the meantime play with TMG just to get used to it and keep your Generations data up to date. There is a tag in TMG labeled "Anecd

21. [TMG] Bug List? [1]
Something I thought of in reading a lot of messages tonight. Is there a list available anywhere of the bugs that have been reported to the programmers and the ones that have been fixed? I ask this because such a list and some summary statistics could give us an objective view of a subject that we have a lot of subjective opinions about. I haven't used the program much yet. I've only encountered one thing that I would consider a bug and it happens inconsistently. Some of the stuff I've seen des

23. [TMG] Extra space before exclusion marker negates affect [1]
...banged my head against the wall for half an hour before I figured this out so thought I would share it... When you enter an exclusion marker to suppress a sentence from printing be sure you are snug up against the left hand edge of the screen. If you accidentally allow a blank space before the exclusion marker, it isn't "read" by TMG and your sentence will print. I have encountered this before in setting up filters for reports - when you enter a value in a field the first letter must start flush with
