1. Re: Project is in use elsewhere [1]
Please excuse me for answering my own message. I did NOT receive the following message from Virginia via TMG-L but found it in the archive. I did all the things suggested by Virginia and still no joy. Using the TMG Copy Project I tried copying my original problem project and got the message "Project is in use elsewhere" during startup. Tried it on the new directory (folder) I created by copying my original files to another directory. Same result. TMG works fine with the sample project. Has not failed
2. Project is in use elsewhere [1]
In the midst of adding some photos to my TMG data set my Windows 98 completely died. After I restarted Windows and tried to restart TMG I got the dreaded "Project is in use elsewhere" message. I looked thru the archives and found suggested steps to get going again. They didn't fix the problem. I did the following: deleted all .cdx files deleted all repeat*.* files deleted all files in c:\windows\temp made sure the troublesome file was not in last used in app.ini I copied files to a different directory
3. Backup wizard is broken [1]
TMG 5.15 and Win 98 The backup Wizard hangs on every type of backup attempt - let it do it all on its own or I put in a backup directory and file name. Here are the stesp I go through 1. Select backup on file menu 2. Select backup project (the default selection) 3. Leave default settings in select project and backup file (both file name suffix selections end in same failure) 4. Options - select data files only 5. Click Next 6. Immediately get "Program Error" window with message "Invalid path or file name.
4. Backup woes [1]
I restored a project into my TMG 5.15 (Windows 98) and due to previous troubles (see "Project is in use elsewhere" earlier today) TMG went thru some rebuilding processes and all was well again. After a little data entry I decided to backup to the directory from where the restore .sqz came from. It is my usual backup directory. After going thru the backup wizard and finally choosing "Finish" it informed me the backup directory I chose was not legal. When I attempted to get out of that I wound up in a lo
5. Filter Groups [0.968445]
I am trying to create a flag to highlight my ancestors as opposed to my husbands. It shows my relationship to my father's family but not my mothers. Can anyone tell me why this would be. The filter I have used is List of People who are an ancestor or descendant on #000 with the option to change the my ancestor flag to Y. The screen print report includes all names, but flag change is not occurring for my mother's family. Thank you Jane
6. Blank Forms [0.968445]
Can anyone tell me if its possible to get TMG 5.15 (UK) to produce blank forms, especially a blank FGS. I thought I had done so previously but can't figure it out now. Perhaps I used another program? 9. RE: UK Edition v5.15 problems [0.968445]
I also am having problems. I converted an existing data set to the UK edition. The data set manager now includes the option to use the UK address however the only way to get this to work is to manually change to the UK address within each place tag for each person. I emailed support some days ago but I am still waiting for a response. Joan, I'm using backup over and over working on a project (and transferring to a notebook) and see no problems. When you restored to the notebook, did you get the message that you were overwriting the existing project? Check the backup to make sure the data is there. Confirm your backup and restore paths. Jim

16. Help needed - V. 5.15: Accent Not Working Correctly [0.968445]
The Accent ( v. 5.15 ) is not working correctly for me. I have a FLAG named Ancestor with values: W (for wife) H (for husband) N (for no) ? (unknown) I cannot now have two different accents from the same FLAG; i.e. I cannot have an 'Ancestor' FLAG accent for both W and H. I used to have one for W in pink and one for H in blue. It also appears that now I can only have a total of three (3) accents. If I try to add another it will replace one of the three already there. Before updating to V. 5.15 the A
17. Default sentence [0.968445]
I have two tags that transferred in from another program - FirstHome and 2nd home. The default sentence is "he first home of [P] <[D]> <[L]> <[M]>" This comes out as "The first home of HE and [PO] was> <[D]> <[L]> <[M]>" I know "to HE and I" and "for HE and I" is becoming routine to people who think they are educated but it is WRONG. AFter a preposition you use him, her, me, them. It should be for him and me. You don't say give it to I and you don't say give it to he and I. How c
18. Re: [TMG]Creating and Transferring Thumbnails? [0.968445]
You might want to look at Easy Thumbnails Free software http://www.fookes.com/ezthumbs/ which will turn photos into thumbnails one by one or in batches, then you can insert them into TMG or WordPerfect, or anything else. I used it to make batches of thumbnails for a photo gallery I created. And Picasa will turn your digital photos into thumbnails in albums which you can sort and catalog, and you can print out contact sheets in various formats, it's free, too: http://www.picasa.com/ Kerry Kerry Davi
19. Re: [TMG] 5.15 Exhibit Log - Insert OLE bug [0.968445]
I was expecting TMG to open the Insert Object dialog box, other operations in TMG where that little message box appears continue on and carry out the operation. At a minimum if the user is required to access the Edit menu, and select Insert Object, the message should stay on the screen until the Edit item on the menu bar is clicked. The first few times I tried this I was more or less befuddled by the blank Ole.ole_object window sitting there and nothing happening. It was not until I carefully observed the m

Agreed, Teresa, but a person able to do that editing is not the person that's confused by the terminology - the beginning user. And there are occasions when "print" is the correct term.
