1. [TMG] Adding a new word processor [1]
This is a question I have intended to ask for some time. Is there a way to add a word processor to the list that comes up when you save a report to a file? I run TMG on a Mac and even though there is a Mac Word listed I have not found that it works very well when trying to create indexes, etc. Probably the most common word processor for the Mac would be Appleworks but that seems to be unknown by Wholly Genes when I have asked them in the past. 2. [TMG] Conversion error #14 [0.96955]
Hello there, I'm hoping one of you wise TMGers can help me. When trying to run an ancestor journal narrative report I'm getting a fatal error notice "Conversion error #14. Could not create destination file." Any clues on what's wrong and how to fix will be appreciated. Regards Warren. Mild Autumn morning in Adelaide, Australia.

Lee, BobV, and others, Apologies to the list - I should have sent my comments to Tech Support. My choice of language seems to have a much stronger adverse meaning than the "stalemate" meaning that it has within Australian parlance. RobinL
5. [TMG] VCF - lockup -" A resource was" [0.96955]
Editing some VCF 1.2 files in v1.2 when I get a popup "A resource was" OK - Win 98SE. VCF only application running. Click OK 100 times no effect. The popup message is incomplete - machine freeze - kill VCF by ending task from CAD. What causes this? Is it it a known problem? Has it been fixed in VCF2 (in FTST). Unfortunately I can't use VCF2 for this file editing and I don't have the TMG dataset from which this chart was produced. SNAFU? RobinL (Adelaide, Australia)

Not any reports that have been printed out. And most of the ones saved to my hard drive have subsequently been overwritten. 8. [TMG] Places Messed Up [0.96955]
Wow, I just had a scary thing happen. I opened my dataset and found that the places for some tags are scrambled. For example, my John Anderson who was born in Scotland was listed as being born in Bellville, Ohio (this is where my Casper ancestors were born)! He has *always* been listed as being born in Scotland; there was never a doubt. I ran a filtered picklist where PoB equals Bellville and found other people who are indicated as being born there who were not. I haven't checked any of my other tag gr

Dick - I do agree with you 100%. But I also wonder, considering these people in other countries, do you put, "United States of America" in the country field of all your American place names? 12. Re: [TMG] TMG 5.0 [0.96955]
Hi Anne, When I see things like "died in childbirth" entered in the Death location field, I see a person who needs something better than FTM. Right now I am trying to cleanup a data set compiled in FTM. The compiler obviously wanted to be able to track more ways then FTM would allow. No genealogy program is best for everyone. If such a program existed, everyone would have it. However, a person can be using a program that just does not meet their needs. The way some folks record information, even FTM is ov
13. [TMG] Ancestor Report Limits [0.96955]
When running an Ancestor based Journal (Narrative) report I can't seem to get 1/2 siblings to show. The only siblings listed are those which share both parents to the person on the Ancestral Line. This is particularly bothersome if you are descended from 2 half siblings, for the latter one it will refer you to the first ones father, but that entry will only show the earlier child. Does anyone know of a way to get this to come out right or do I need to wait and hope that 5.0 or 5.1 will fix this? Richard D

16. [TMG] Apostrophe truncated in Value field of report filter [0.96955]
I like to generate reports of events that occurred in particular areas. One of the popular ones for me is St. Mary's Co., MD. If I make a report so that the filter is "County" - "Equals" - "St. Mary's Co." (which is the way I have it entered), TMG automatically capitalizes to "ST. MARYS CO." which is fine, but it takes out the apostrophe; therefore I get zero results. Can I fix this? Morgan

20. [TMG] Future Enhancement [0.96955]
I would love for a future version of TMG to have the ability for us to store information about different places and then when we linked that place to a person, we would be able to say for that information to print. Example: Durham, Middlesex County, CT is one of my places. I would like to be able to attach a map, historical information, etc to that place, and then when I link that place to my Barrett ancestors, I could check a box in the tag that would say when this tag prints, the information about

I did almost exactly the same procedure as proposed by Eric about 10 weeks ago and can confirm that it worked like a charm. From there I have manually evaluated the Individuals that were not eliminated by the filter rules. Actually, I have a three-state flag: No Yes and Maybe. I did automate one other part of the process. Knowing that a particular branch migrated from England in about 1840, all of his descendents were automatically set to 'N' as well. (By choice, I'll live with the risk that someone ca
