1. [TMG] Exhibits Print Twice [1]
I have created a text exhibit and attached it to a tag(event). I went to the CRW and selected the individual narrative report, changed my exhibit selection to print as footnotes and then printed it to screen. There were two footnote numbers connected to the tag narrative. I then printed the endnotes report and found that the two footnotes were identical and each was the exhibit text. Can someone tell me what I need to do so only one footnote appears? Incidentally, if I embed the exhibit or embed it in par

3. [TMG] Entering Census Data [1]
A lot has been written about methods to enter census data. For what it might be worth to some one else, here is a system I devised that seems to be working well. First, let me say that I wanted to keep psuedo-names out of my data base. That is my personal thing and I have no quarrel with others who might want to add census people such as 1850 Census or the like. Now here is a short how to on what I did. 1. I created several tags such as Census-Head, Census-Wife, Census-brother, etc. Actually I create a
4. [TMG] Text Exhibits-Attaching [1]
I have two questions about exhibits: 1. I accessed the Exhibit log from a tag entry screen; created my exhibit as an internal text and saved it. When I saved everything from the Tag entry screen and returned to the Person view my camera icon glowed green. I went in the way I would normally edit the tag and the camera icon glowed green there also. I then returned to the Exhibit log and confirmed that the same exhibit (same text file) is attached to both the person and the event. I do not understand how or w

6. Re: [TMG] Location of Birth [0.971041]
I just tried this, and in my version 4.0c Gold the normal Birth Tag sentence reads "[P] was born <[D]> <[L]>". I previewed an Indiv. Narrative Report for a person with a birth location only and got "Jane was born London." Before I tested to see what happened I was going to suggest that perhaps changing the order of D and L might work in case it was only printing the first option if all weren't present (Although that would presumably muck up the report if just date was present - so scratch that idea.) 9. Re: [TMG] Digital backups [0.971041]
Well, I just did a little checking. I find my DVD drive (on a Gateway 2000) reads the CD-RW disk. I hadn't known it would do that. The CD on my 1996 Toshiba laptop says "device not ready" when I put a CD-RW in the regular CD drive. This is not a question of needing Adaptec technology, because I have an external CD-RW machine installed on the laptop. I think the crucial factor to make a CD that can be shared is to use CD-R, and as you eject the disk, choose the option that formats the disk to be read by

Jan, That's very strange. When I click on the attachment icon, the message itself opens, but not the attachment. Every time I try to import a PAF4 formatted file into TMG I get a FOXPRO (or some such thing) error and the TMG program bombs. When I import the same PAF4 file (saved as a GEDCOM) ..... 19. [TMG] FGS Restrict to BMDB [0.971041]
I am a little confused. On the FGS, if I choose Restrict to BMDB, yet have all tags selected on the OPTIONS 2 tag, I get more than the BMDB tags. I also appear to be getting tags like probate and funeral. Is the Restrict to BMDB tags the ones that are just Born, Married, Died, Buried, OR are they the tags that are in the Birth Group, Death Group, Marriage Group etc. Because the help file leads me to believe that it is just BMD and B that I should see. The new system I received at work came with Office 2000. I was afraid I might have problems sharing files with my co-workers as they all had Office 97. The only part of Office that was a problem was Access. I can create a document in Word 2000 and the people using Word 97 can not even tell it was done in Word 2000. I do not know if TMG will run into trouble with Word 2000, however, from what I've seen of Word 2000, I would not expect any problems. -----Original Message----- From: LCainMass@aol.com [mai
