1. SON & DAUGHTER TAGS -- MEMOS AND CITATIONS [1]
Some related aspects of Son and Daughter tags that I do not understand, and I hope someone can help. I've added a daughter to Person1, and she appears (as expected) as a 'Dau-Bio' tag in Person1's Person View. But if I open that tag, the Tag type appears as 'Father-Bio'. Why the difference? Then I added a Memo and Citations to Person1's Dau-Bio tag and they appear (as expected) on the Person View for Person1. But when I print an Individual Detail report for Person1, the Dau-Bio tag is labelled 'Daugh

name variable variations for Witness is on my wishlist too. But it's there for Roles. So maybe you could use [RF:Child] in your sentence to get just the first name of your witness. 3. Re: [TMG] Logical Research [1]
Stuart: I agree with you wholeheartedly, and like your suggested headings. I just use the memo field as a To-Do list and when done, put in the completion date and make a note in the memo where the materials I obtained are housed. Actually, in the next version I would like to see an easy, more direct way, to change field labels in tags than by changing the Language, as well as the ability to customize the Research log. 9. Widow/Widower event tags [1]
I needed some way to indicate when a spouse became a widow/widower without using the Witness role and also have the tag work in TMG reports and SecondSite displays. I created two new custom event tag types, "Leave Widow" and "Leave Widower". For the "Leave Widow" tag the male sentence structure is "When he died <[D]>, [PO] was left a widow" and the female sentence structure is "She was left a widow when [PO] died <[D]>". For the "Leave Widower" tag the male sentence structure is "He was left a widower wh

Is the only heading Type? If so slide your cursor on the heading to the right slowly until it changes to the up and down arrow. Pull the arrows to the left and the Value heading should show with values. Is there a ASCII/ANSII code for that symbol? In an old ASCII chart it is 23 but that gives me a ? in Tahoma and alt 023 does nothing. bob gillis JCPennylegion@aol.com wrote: >Dear Virginia: > >Thank you for your recommendation which sounded like it would be the logical >solution to my problem; un
11. RE: [TMG] Methods-Dates: How do you handle Unknown Dates? [1]
Really, Lee?? I was under the impression most TMG users were attracted to it because of the ability to write wonderful, detailed narratives. If I have any complaint at all about TMG it's that it really doesn't lend itself to my style of brief, compact, abbreviated compilations. And that isn't even fair to say, really. TMG would do exactly that if I used just one printing memo-only-style tag per person (something I've strongly considered). I have one ancestor (just one) that couldn't possibly have enou

18. research log [1]
I will have to admit that I use the research log to enter any random event that I think may be of use to me later. Such as finding the names BRAZZELL, WALKER, CHAPPELL, TATUM, and ROBERTSON in proximity somewhere - I enter the info in the research log. When I am casting about for stray threads, I go to the individual and open the research log to find those random leads and entries. I NEVER enter a real To-Do there - I keep those in Word on another list. I would be curious to know what others do with

When you edit the role name, TMG automatically changes the wherever that role was used to the new role name. No need to edit the sentence unless you want it to read differently. Thanks DeAnna & Lorna - that clears it up. Found it on Thomas Jefferson's tombstone on the web.

I can live with lack of caption. When a tombstone with the individuals name on it appears above the sentence "He was buried....." it is somewhat self-explanatory. Well, I don't know about that Holly, My sense is that, at least recently, AARP became an Administration Flack. Because they lost so many members over the prescription issue, they have gone the other way. Obviously, the organizational pocketbook has precedence over ideology. Guess it depends on which side of the political fence one is on. Best to leave this subject be and just concentrate on TMG. Judith Mert & Holly Kilpatrick wrote: > Wow, I third that in spades! 25. Printing witness memos [1]
I think I must be missing something on the new feature of Witness Memos that I so much wanted, because the witness memo isn't printing. Example: John Doe 1860 census - he's the principal and his sentence is: [P] appeared on the 1860 census as the head of household, [L] [M] He properly prints. In his household is Fred Doe. The sentence that is in his witness entry is: [W] appeared on the 1860 census in the household of [P1], [L].< His info on the census included - [WM]> and in his memo I have This is Fred D
