Hi John, just quickly tried a small report to "Word for Windows 2000 or later" and it opened in OpenOffice (2.0) just fine. - though a first look showed that images looked a bit 'odd' since OpenOffice seems to 'allocate' a specific size - sort of 'square' - to each image, making them look distorted - but they c
2. RE: [TMG] New User Questions - displaying spouse - Thank you [1]
Sylvia, You are not alone in wanting the spouse more visible, eg as a separate line up in the NAME box. I've just given up asking for it every so often over the years. My suggestion is to have a line under the Father and Mother lines with the spouse shown, display only. If more than one, it would have to either have more than one row, or if only one, show the spouse from the "last displayed" marriage. For quite some years I did use the reference field to record the spouse name(s), but when I upgraded my p

Kevin, The repeat lists may have gone awol at a version upgrade, but otherwise, I think they cycle around the last 15 entries. I've just had a look at my Title repeat list and can't even remember entering some of them, so they've been there a while. Lorna Henderson Waikanae, NZ -----Original Message----- From: Kevin L. 5. RE: How do I Display more than one image [1]
If you do like the PDF idea, you can still make it an exhibit. In the exhibit window, right-click and pick "add OLE object." Then click on Edit, Add object. Then pick, "Add from file," and find the PDF on your computer. There won't be a thumbnail picture, but if you double-click on it, you can view it within TMG. You can read more by searching for "OLE" in the help files. Morgan -----Original Message----- From: Pumpkin Farm (relocated) [mailto:jdvandyke@adelphia.net] Sent: Saturday, December 31, 2005 9:3
6. Re: [TMG] Name Style – Names not showi ng correctly in witness drop-down list. [1]
Polly, This is a bug that cropped up in the last update. I have the same problem as I use a similar name style for census. Jim said it should be fixed in the next update. However, in the mean time. . . The census name is usually the last name I add and so that is the one I select. Even though it doesn't show up in the name entry box, when you close that you can see part of the selected name in the witness box. If it doesn't show enough to tell you it's the right name you can used the tabbed version of the
7. RE: [TMG] Truth Again [1]
As a family physician, I feel the whole issue of family medical history is blown far out of proportion. Whether or not a patient has a family history of diabetes, I screen him or her and there's no way I'd exclude a possible disease simply because there was no family history of it. In addition, the diagnoses on death certificates are so poor and the diagnositic equipment of a hundred years ago so primitive that all old diagnoses have to be taken with a liberal dose of salt. Furthermore, all this worry lea

13. RE: [TMG] Backup advice from a loved one [1]
After my crash, which devastated me, I tried CD's for a while which didn't work at all and then I got a Maxtor One-Step. It is always maintaining an up-to-date backup of my hard drive. You can check them out with Google and buy them at Staples. (When my drive crashed I went so far as to send it to a place in Chicago with a clean room, and was going to pay up to $1000 (!) if they could get the data from it. But they could not, luckily for my bank account.) Holly > -----Original Message----- > From: Teres

17. Re: [TMG] Adding a grandchild to a record.eml [1]
Hi Tony, Here is one idea, written off the top of my head: You enter the grandson as Principal 2. The sentence might read: "According to the 1900 U.S. Federal census, [P2] was the grandchild of [P1].< [M]>" You could put conjectures in the memo, something like, "Since this child has a different last name, it seems that he is the son of one of George's daughters. Sally or Jane seem most likely, since they would have been of age to parent Sam when he was born in 1886." Then the relationship is shown,

I am making progress in understanding this, but not to the point of being able to write down detailed instructions to follow every time. Now what has happened is that I created new databases within my original database if that makes sense. They all are founda within Project Explorer. So they seem to be spurs of my original database; in fact the same person is ID #3:45 (in the third database), 2:45 (in the second database, and now my original database is 1:45 instead of just 45. Fortunately I was smart enou

21. Source abbreviations in GEDCOM [1]
I find that when I export a GEDCOM it includes both the full "Title" (full footnote) and the "Source Abbreviation" (in reallity the short footnote). This results in duplicate information when the GEDCOM is posted on WorldConnect. Is there any way to prevent the short footnote from being exported? I use the Lackey source templates. Ed Elizondo
22. RE: [TMG] Lists for Repository Research [1]
Pat, This is precisely why I started using the microfilm roll (or vertical file in this case) as the repository. It allowed me to then create research tasks for each microfilm roll. Say a roll had deed books A-C on it. They cover a time period of 1810-1815. I would use Gensmarts to find everyone who was living in that area between 1810 and 1815. Using the list it created, I would then begin to create deed tags, with the role TO DO LIST for each of those people with Deed Books A-C as my repository. Then
