1. [TMG] book on fonts [1]
A short while ago, ES Mills recommended a book on fonts & readability. I saved the title, but not very well I guess--now I can't find it. Could someone tell me the author/title again? 2. [TMG] TMG-Digest [1]
Would appreciate help with the following: When I view TMG-Digest on my work computer - 300 Meg PII, Dell Laptop, 128 MB RAM, NT4, Outlook 98, it reads exactly as it should. The list of messages is followed by the individual messages in their entirety. When I view TMG-D on my home computer - 500 Meg Athlon, Clone PC, 128 MB RAM, MSWin98, Outlook 2000 (SR1) the message listing and all of the messages are individual attachments that must be opened one at a time. Any suggestions as to how I can get my home

Bob Velke announced the intended release of a minor upgrade V4.0a. About the same time the owners of UFT were told that their software was being dropped. Most of the UFT owners,

Of course you do, it is a better program! And no Gatesian monopoly problems . I'm glad that you solved your problem. A suggestion though -- have your output sent in WordPerfect 5.2 for Windows (and DOS). WP will automatically update to the version. TMG 4.0 doesn't communicate well with WP8 or 2000. Bob is working on it. John

9. [TMG] OT - ANSI to ASCII in GEDCOMs [0.970657]
This is slightly off-topic for TMG, but I know there are genealogist/programmers and non-English language web users here: Most or all genealogy programs output GEDCOMs using an ANSI character set. I'm experimenting with using a GEDCOM created by UFT (soon to be TMG) to create HTML pages that use an ASCII character set. How do I translate ANSI to ASCII? It only matters (for me) for names with non-English characters, but I have a few in my dataset. Pointers to books or web sites on the topic would b

14. [TMG] Restore after a crash [0.970657]
Anyone still need of reassurance of the quality of TMG's technical support to their users might like to know the successful outcome of my main dataset crashing last night. The TMG repair utility could not be invoked because the dataset would not load so I e-mailed Wholly Genes for advice. An acknowledgement and help message arrived in just 10 minutes, following which I zipped all the data files and sent it to Wholly Genes as an e-mail attachment, at 2308 UK time. I'm having a problem with exhibits in my main database. I do NOT have this problem with the sample database. *sigh* When I try to add an exhibit to an event, I get the following: Line 22, Error 5/Record Out of Range V. 4.0 Pgm RLSUBJ This happens consistently, and restarting the program doesn't fix the "apparently damaged" index files as promise. Help! I entered my tree into TMG and much later I discovered that two female first cousins married the same man. Each woman has a marriage tag for this man. Any one know how to do this? Thanks, Maggie

"Luftwaffe" does not mean "German Air Force," it means simply "Air Force." Translated more mechanically and less accurately, "Luftwaffe" means "combat flyers."
