1. [TMG] Mixed up cue cards [1]
Is anyone else getting mixed messages on cue cards? For instance, the one that just popped up is headed "Cue Card - Filter the Project Explorer." However, the text reads "This is the Flag Manager. "Flags" are used...." This has happened to me numerous times with different subjects and I've been ignoring it, but since I haven't seen any messages mentioning it, I'm wondering if it's just me? 2. [TMG] v5.02 -- Broken relationship link [1]
I have a problem with a broken relationship link. Briefly, I have copied a focus group from a converted 4.0d dataset to a newly created dataset in 5.02. I've been trying to repair the links between parents and children to get everyone in line, and have a problem with one father/daughter. My g-gm shows as a blood relation to me, but not her father. ?? He is shown as her primary father -- IOW, at the top of the display, not in a tag, but the relation tag shows no relation to me. Is there something else I sh
3. Re: [TMG] Installing TMG On A Laptop [0.971048]
Thanks everyone so much for the helpful advice. TMG is not on the laptop, I just received it brand new today. It seems the consensus safest way is to install TMG v4.x from the CD, apply the patches, copy the config file and data base backup file to the laptop, restore same, then run some sample reports and exports. The problem with this method is that I won't have all the folders with my special reports, GEDCOMs and various ancillary material to which I often refer. Copying the entire TMGW folder to zip dis

James, > Can you give me an example. How can I define tags for export as GEDCOM tags > not supported by the GEDCOM. I wouldn't think I would have that option. TMG5 tags exported as the following GEDCOM tags to a GEDCOM 5.5 file: ADDR, ATTR, BIC, ILLE, STIL, CANC, CODI, CRIM, EMPL, EXCO, GEDC, MISC, NULL, ORDL, ORDI, PRES, PASL, RATI, REBA, RESE, REST, SLGP, STAL, PHON. As Ted pointed out, all of the above tags are supported in GEDCOM 4.0 export. You can look through the TMG5 tag type definitions and see

6. RE: [TMG] Mills Source for Memorial? [0.971048]
Lee - If you enter the information into your CD, how do you generate a bibliographic entry? I would like to move away from specific to more generic sources, but don't see how this is particularly compatible with BIB forms. 8. RE: [TMG] Using a Digital Camera? [0.971048]
I have had a newpaper that lasted for over ninety years. It was found in my grandmother's trunk when she died. It had my grandfathers obituary in it and a front page article about him. He died in 1904. By the time I got the paper, the trunk had been stored in a barn for over twenty years. I kept the paper until about 1999, when my husband was helping me clean. He threw it away, thinking it was just an old newspaper. I think the paper lasted so well because the trunk was seldom opened. The heat in the

11. Re: [TMG] Re: Digital camera reproduction was/Scanners and [0.971048]
Hi Pam, I have no idea why PhotoShop refers to screen resolution as 72 ppi. Monitors are not rated in pixels per inch. I think Adobe uses the term for convenience but they are spreading a false concept. For comments on this topic see http://www.scantips.com/basics1a.html and follow on the the next page. IMO, Walt is giving better information than PhotoShop. The home page is http://www.scantips.com and I recommend the site and the book for anyone who wants to understand scanning better. Since it seems that everyone who responded to my post about having the relationship tag print where MOTHER and FATHER are now, was in agreement that we would like this feature, how do we go about seeing if it in one Bob can implement. Also is there anyone who would prefer to keep the current MOTHER FATHER instead of Mother-Ado or Mother-Stp? Teresa Ghee Elliott Rutherford County, TN Cemeteries

18. Re: [TMG] PDF file for TMG reports [0.971048]
My plan (to be implemented in the next week or so!) is to get the charts and narratives into one Word document (or as much of it as can be put into Word, which may not include the charts), paginate, print using my admittedly very spiffy HP Laserjet 4000, and then take to the copy shop for double-sided copies. I haven't yet decided how to bind them. But big projects like this are one reason I spent the money for a really good printer. Thus far, it is true, I have not put in any pictures. While the book

21. [TMG] reply to Ole [0.971048]
Ole, I am not a sophisticated user of TMG. In fact, I am at this point fairly inexperienced with reports (which is a temporary plus with the 5+ version - smile). However, I do come from FTM. In FTM I found myself always creating a chronological chart in the notes section. It seemed to me like a superior way in which to review info gained, etc. And, yes, I also entered conflicting birthdates, etc. When I found TMG, which allowed all of that in a searchable format, I was ecstatic. I consider myself to be a

Well, it sounds like some kind of special case in your specific instance. I don't believe other users should shy away from using that field for extensive information on the basis of your apparently unique experience. I don't suppose you've saved the original text, have you? Perhaps in a backup? I for one would be interested to see what it looked like, and see what happens when an import is attempted with that text in the field in question. K&L - Yes, would love to hear feedback on negatives. My husband inherited a ton of negatives from the 1930's and 1940's of his family and it would be great to know that we could get a good scan of them. I would really like to have the new OmniPage OCR software because it works much like Acrobat -- you can make a PDF file into editable text or create your own PDF file, but to buy it plus the scanner is getting pretty pricey. HP's used to come with OmniPage software, but now they seem to have some sort of p
