1. Re: [TMG] Married and divorced twice to the same spouse [1]
Thanks, I love your "nasty memo", if only family members could get laughs out of that stuff..... This will help out a lot though, especially for those couples that you know plan to get a divorce but just never seem to get around to making it official. Alison PS. Sorry for the double post yesterday. I should know better than to trust yahoo when they say the message was not sent. sigh. I guess it is a case by case basis. 3. Re: Opening an FBC file with TMG [1]
Gary, I received an FBC file a few weeks ago; it's a compressed FTM backup. Fortunately I had an older version of FTM installed. When I used my FTM to attempt a restore, it complained that the FBC was from a newer version and wouldn't be able to open it, but it nevertheless created the desired FTW file which then could be handled by TMG. I was somewhat amazed at this process, but relieved! Two problems from your point of view: 1. I don't think the FBC was simply a 'ZIP' type of file, the way our SQZ f

If you feel that some other later Tag of that Tag Group should be Primary then you can make it Primary at that time or later. I assume that you have situations where you have entered say a Christning Tag (which is marked Primary) and later add a Birth Tag (which is not marked Primary because it was added later). By most accounts, the Birth Tag would b

6. Re: [TMG] Slightly OT - Social Security Last Benefit Question [1]
Again, the issue is the final lump-sum death benefit as opposed to the last regular monthly benefit. "Column 2" is only concerned with the death benefit. I hadn't realized that they used to make you pay back the pro rata share of the last monthly payment. In the two cases I have been involved in, the SSA said it wasn't necessary to do so - but perhaps that was a matter of timing and so little money involved that it was really not worth the effort! In a few different cases, TMG Utility includes ID numbers that are not normally visible to users. I include the ID numbers because they may be useful to someone who has direct access to the data tables. That includes power users, but also includes me when I am troubleshooting an issue reported by a TMG Utility user. J

11. Can we add additional tags to the Descendant Indented Report? [1]
Hello, Ideally, I would like to add in additional tags (for example, Email addresses) to the Descendant Indented Chart report. Is this possible? It seems like it should be easy, but I can't figure it out. Like this: Todd Duane4 Taylor (1), b. 8/21/1962 in Chehalis, WA, USA >>> Todd Duane4 Taylor (1), b. 8/21/1962 in Chehalis, WA, USA, email todd.d.taylor@gmail.com ...in the case of no email address either have the option to leave out the data or add in blanks... Thanks in advance for your help.

Thank you, Lee. This gives me something to think about. I may opt to use the Other Tag Group for long term relationships and nothing for the others. I have a question for those of you who use Embedded citations. Do you then also cite the source for the tag. Is there a way to cite the source, yet not have it print? I'd like to be able to see the sources I have used in the Tag window, but I don't really want them to print twice. 18. RE: [TMG] Restoring TMG with Exhibits [1]
Cheryl, That is what I would do. I don't see why it wouldn't work. If you have a backup of just the images, you could also restore those to the right directory outside of TMG. When my computer died, I had an older backup of the images, so now I am trying to rescan those I lost. And making more backups to DVD now. I'm trying to get an external harddrive, but the one I ordered was no longer in stock, so I am back to square one. Teresa Ghee Elliott-IBSSG TMG sentences http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.

21. RE: [TMG] "disproved" citations? [1]
The best advice I can give, Alison, is to give yourself an hour or two, go to a good genealogy library, and browse the articles in a few issues of genealogy magazines you want to emulate. (I like NGS Quarterly -- my mom always said I had more ambition than anyone she knows.) Review the footnotes and citations and see how they handle it. For instance, ages reported in a census are often referenced as part of a single, cumulative footnote on a person's estimated birth year. Varying dates of immigration or cou
22. Re: [TMG] DATE: Multiple events on the same day [1]
Hi Marion, As others have noted, you could use a different *date* in the sort date to cause the order you desire. I have also used different *qualifiers* on the *same* date in the sort date to cause them to sort in my preferred order. For example, if you have an exact date, the following qualifiers of that same date will sort in the following order: before 21 July 2006 before 21 July 2006? say 21 July 2006 say 21 July 2006? circa 21 July 2006 circa 21 July 2006? 21 July 2006

25. Re: [TMG] Excluding a Marriage [1]
Sorry, you are right about the ID exclusions. ( I'd forgotten I'd changed to a BMDB paragraph & hasn't looked there.) This brings up two wish list items: 1. Wish the ID exclusions did work. Didn't they at one time? 2. Wish there was a quick way in the report options to exclude people who had a flag (of users choice) with a particular setting.
