2. Re: [TMG] OT Inaccurate Ancestry GEDCOMS [1]
Why would you be posting the addresses and phone numbers for your relatives? They probably couldn't sue you, but it would seem to be questionable ethically to do that without their OK. As for SSNs of the dead, they are in the public domain and a matter of public record. They couldn't sue you for that. 3. Re: [TMG] Portable Flash Memory - was Backup Problem [1]
I've been using one of these CigarPros for months now. I keep all my images on it. I make it Drive Z: on all my computers, then do all backups to it and then when I start TMG on another computer, the first thing I do is restore. It is as fast as your USB connection, which is pretty fast. May even be faster than a hard drive. It is just a large memory chip with the circuitry to make it into a virtual drive. They are about the same price as compact flash or smart media cards, or maybe a fraction more. Th

7. Re: [TMG] Automatic "relation" tag - Opinions wanted [1]
I would like such a tag or a way of automatically generating a tag containing that information. I have a project of over 11,000 people and I haven't notice any performance problems at all, even with 4 different accent colors turned on as well as the relationship calculator. I'm running Win 2000 with an Athlon 1350 MHz processor. No. And if they had, that wouldn't be enough. To my knowledge, Microsoft doesn't communicate by attachments, but by you downloading things from their website. 9. RE: [TMG] Automatic "relation" tag - Opinions wanted [1]
Yes, that has to be true, since when you make a connection which changes the relationships of people already in the dataset, the old relationships stay until you unselect and reselect the relationship calculator. 10. Re: [TMG] Access CD Rom: [1]
Normally, you can't just do backups directly on to a CD-R disk. You have to use a CD burning program such as Nero to get the files onto the CD-R. Do the backups onto your hard drive and then move them to the CD with Nero or other program. 15. Re: [TMG] Fixing Names [0.969109]
In my wife's family, following the Norwegian custom of naming the first-born son after his grandfather, we have four generations of males named Sevald Sevaldson Lund (Lund being the farm name). The second generation down had TWO sons named Sevald (Sevaldson, of course), and each of these had sons named Sevald, making for a total of six. The start of this line, which is as far back as our present data goes, was Sevald Hansen Lund. One could presume that his father was Hans Sevaldson, but we don't have that r

Cheri, I didn't use to record the image number, but I found them awfully hard to find again without it. Since Ancestry online is my true source, not the microfilm it is digitized from, I wanted the shortest path to finding it again in case I want to re-decipher the handwriting. I would strongly recommend recording the image number. I also record sheet and page numbers. Frequently I record a page number in the form "page 123/456" using "/" to indicate the several pagings that are usually found. Every ind
