1. [TMG] OT Reading Digest Hotmail vs. OE [1]
This is of very minor concern but wanted to know if anyone had an answer why, when I read my TMG-Digest using the hotmail web mail interface, all messages appear on the screen (which I prefer). When retrieved using Outlook Express or the MSN Web Browser, all messages are attachments and have to be open separately. Is there a way I can set up OE so my TMG-Digest messages would come through as one long document? Debbie _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive
2. [TMG] Embedded Citations [1]
I got brave and tried embedded citations and have to say I really like them. When I have a source with only one CD, they work. When I tried using one of my "generic sources" which had 6 CDs: <[CD2]><[CD3]><[CD4]>, etc. -- it didn't work. As a matter of fact, when I ran two different reports, the embedded citation and ALL the rest of the memo following it, did not show up. I tried it two or three times. Does this mean that one can only use "simple" sources -- or am I doing something wrong. Thanks for a
3. [TMG] Citing funeral pamphlet [1]
Any suggestions for citing a funeral pamphlet? My mother-in-law provided a birth date and place for her sister that is in conflict with the information on her funeral pamphlet. The information on the pamphlet was provided by a son and sister 2 years older than the deceased, whereas my mother-in-law is 12 years younger than the sister that passed away. 6. Re: [TMG] Info to cd's [1]
I use Adeptec software and choose to make a "Direct CD" in which I can use the cd-writer drive as if it was a regular drive or floppy. Then when backing up my data base, I just choose the cd-writer as my location. If your laptop has a CD-writer also, you can leave the CD as is so it can be written to some more. Otherwise, in order for your laptop's CD drive to be able to read from this CD, you will have to choose the option "Finalize CD." when you eject it from your writer. Does this make sense? I
7. [TMG] Terry's Macro [1]
Hi Terry, I am trying to set up your Word Processor Macro to Format TMG Reports from your Tips Page. Everything was going smoothly until F: Format the Endnotes. Step 3 is Choose View/Footnotes. My Footnotes is grayed out so I can't select it. What now? By the way, I am using a blank document to do this. Is this what I am supposed to be doing? Is that why I can't select View/Footnotes? I have Microsoft Word 97. Thanks for any help! Barbara _______________________________________________
8. [TMG] Legally changed name [1]
My brother-in-law, a product of my mother-in-law's first marriage, legally changed his name when he was in his late 20's so it was the same as his mother, step-father's and half-siblings. I've shown him as a product of my mother-in-law's first marriage and I've also created a tag for Name-changed. The text, though, does not read like I think it should. Bob Jones was born......; he married Mary Adams.... On June 1, 1961 his name was legally changed to Bob Smith. As of 21 Oct 2001, Bob Jones and Ma

10. Re: [TMG] UFT & the Master Source List of TMG. [0.971651]
Ben, I am very interested in answers to your questions. Some of my sources transferred nicely from UFT, but like you I have numerous abbreviations that were I suppose Free Notes which have not transferred in good source form. Fortunately I do not have but about 2700 individuals but the 800 sources of which probably 700 need attention are daunting. I have been using source number to get record of individual citations and gradually -oh - so gradually clearing part of the mess. I am trying to use Mills format

Go to Tools/Optioins, select the Tags tab, check Autorelationship and enter your id#. Be aware if you turn this on it calculates the relationship every time you change focus to another individual. If your data set if very large this will slow processing down quite a bit. 16. [TMG] Loading GEDCOM [0.971651]
What am I doing wrong? I saved a file at FamilySearch.com in gedcom format... and wanted to examine it, so tried to load it in TMG, then in SuperTools. Each time, it tells me that EACH record is now two records with a 0 as lead for the second record... and thus it won't import anything. I end up with a list of 'unknowns' that looks like the same size as the number of individuals in the original file. I have examined the file in Word, Notepad, and Wordpad and see nothing wrong. This is how it starts: *
17. Re: [TMG] OT Win 98 SE vs. Win ME vs. Win 2000 (vs. Win XP?) [0.971651]
Well, I don't know what to do. In October, 2001. I bought a Dell 8200 1.7 GHZ, 256 RAM which shipped with Windows ME installed. I was given a coupon to upgrade free to XP when they send it which should be this month. Haven't had any problems with this new system except the TMG freeze up if Outlook Express was running. I upgraded to OE v.6.0 and even that is fixed now. I can't decide whether to leave well enough alone, or consider installing the XP when it comes. Ruth Cottrell > As far as ME is concer

Hi Carol, This has nothing to do with the problems you are experiencing. I think that they are related to your operating system. Under the General tab click [Create Backup] Click on the radio button for Selective startup Remove checks from: Process Config.sys file Process Autoexex.bat file Load startup group items Click [Apply] then [OK] and approve restarting Windows. Today I was trying to enter a residence tag into my test data base. The first place of residence went in just fine, but I could not enter any other place of residence. It would let me type it, but it would not show up on the person view page. I was not entering sources partly because this a test and partly because I could not find out how to enter a source from personal knowledge. I think I have seen "personal knowledge" somewhere in some of the material I have been studying, but I could not find it i

The downside is that the user can't click on the image to open an email window with the destination em

25. [TMG] Identifying unverified data in reports [0.971651]
Hi, Ancestry's daily news today had a suggestion that I'd like to implement in TMG. I'm at the beginning of what will be a massive upgrading of my information from hearsay and family stories to documented sources, and I need a quick way to look at my printouts and identify information I need to verify. The suggestion was to label any piece of information which someone said was true but for which there is no verification with STB, meaning "said to be." This author puts it right in the record before the un
