1. [TMG] Re: Overall TMG rude comments [1]
To the list, TMG is a great list! We humans have good days and bad days and are never perfect (although alot of us like to think so). MOST people put questions to the list because they need help and yes, there are a few slackers out there looking for a free ride, but don't let those kind, ruin it for you, to take it out on the rest of us. This is about the 3rd unkind email within the past 6 months! People please get a grip. Before you put an unkind word out there, count to ten, go get a drink (no, no

Dale, Don't go back to your lurkers corner. Everyone has a bad day. Terry's use of words weren't probably the best. And/or maybe it wasn't meant for you. There are so many people out there who assume this or that. If you read Terry's later email he put out, he apologized for whatever reason. Email can be a difficult medium to express one's thoughs correctly and Terrys should have sent a one on one email to that person versus the list. Keep plugging along in the family history and ask as many questio

6. RE: [TMG] on verso [0.871892]
Cheri, As a national marketing consultant, editor, and tech writer, I'm hired to make sure all company publications are correct and look good. It is true if you are using a "monotype" (Every letter is the same width and takes up the same amount of space.) font or typeface (like Courier) you need to put two spaces after a period. However, most people on word processors (which are really Desktop Publishers (DTP) today) use "proportional" (letters that take up different widths) fonts. Nearly all word proces

9. RE: [TMG] Generate Custom Picklist based on List of Events? [0.871892]
Brian, I'm pretty sure you can not do it. I, too, would very much like an Event Picklist (filtered like Reports), and this has been requested here on this list in the past. I KNOW how powerful it is, based on having that feature in UFT ... it can save hours of editing time, and is also useful for analyzing your data. Being able to filter the Master Source and Place Lists would result in similar capabilities for those record types. It would be logical all these Picklists shared a similar name (Master In

11. Re: [TMG] Virus? [0.871892]
In regard to the question as to whether a virus was included with e-mails that many of the TMG-L subscribers have received from "nanajudy1" -- 1. These are NOT viruses. 2. These are auto-responder messages. 3. They are automatically sent by "nanajudy1" to any person sending a message to the list by "nanajudy1's" computer/program . So if you send a message/reply to TMG-L, then any computer/program having an auto-responder will send an automatic reply to you (only) as the "From" addressee of the message.

13. RE: [TMG] Medieval Entries? [0.871892]
It's not fair for me to say since I've been studying them for eons and hopefully have less confusion than others might. I might add that some of these nicknames were not used by the person in question or at least not in their presence. Some of them were created after the person died. -----Original Message----- From: Cynthia Smithdeal [mailto:cysmithd@worldnet.att.net] Sent: Saturday, May 12, 2001 9:46 AM To: TMG-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: [TMG] Medieval Entries? 14. Re: [TMG] Italics (was on verso) [0.871892]
This is entirely true, but in bibliographies (printed or not) one should put the title of an unpublished dissertation in quotes, not underlined or in italics. Fortunately (I suppose), in genealogy we don't end up using a lot of those. Pedantically, Karla Message text written by INTERNET:TMG-L@rootsweb.com > Let me clarify the use of Italics for book titles. 16. Re: [TMG] HELP .. has anyone converted German GENprofi to TMG?? [0.871892]
I would get the gedcom and a full report. With the Gedcom, I would create a new db for TMG and import it there and review the records to see that I wanted them all. Then add the data from the report. Then add a single source for all the records. Then, if you wish, you could merge this with your regular data. -- Judy (..Rowley) Bramlage http://www.wmn.net/rowleytw/ > Bonita wrote: > > there is a lot of information. 18. Re: [TMG] Keywords in Research Log [0.871892]
Caroline: I definitely agree with you. Depending on how I am looking at my research at certain times I would like to see what I have searched by sources, repositories and/or by people without doing double or triple entry. Unfortunately, it creates double research tasks when you go to print a research to do list. Is there anyway to get around this? I would love to be able to key in a person's number, a source number, and/or a repository number and have the research task appear on the other lists.

For Tom Cox and all, I've got TMG 4.0c Gold, with the 4.0d patch, running on Win2000, but there were a couple of hiccups that you should be aware of. Don't bother trying to install it under Program Files with the rest of your programs (where it belongs). If you try it, the first CD will install there OK, but the install routine for the second CD will plant files and folders in the root (C:\) directory that neither you nor Win2000 wants there, and then reports won't run -- turns out there are no font
