1. Re: Re: [TMG] Users Guide [1]
I just downloaded it very quickly. (I have a cable connection). 2. [TMG] New Buglet? [1]
Since 5.07, I have found that in the name portion of the enter-a-person screen, if I enter a title, e.g. Sir, then tab through to the given name, the program enters "Sir" as the given name. This is true even if there is already a given name in that field. This does not happen if "Sir" is entered in the screen that comes up when a name is double-clicked, only the one when adding a person.
3. Re: [TMG] New Buglet? [1]
I use a different name style which allows display of the presurname, but this has been true since version 5.01, and I never had this bug. This is something new that has occurred without me intentionally changing anything in the program. I can work around it by using the mouse to navigate rather than the TAB, or by retyping the given name over the title that was defaulted into it. Is there some way to intentionally alter the program so that tabbing into a field will trigger placement of a default field val
4. Re: [TMG] Problem with early dates [1]
I wonder what it would take to make the BC dates regular. Why not just accept a minus sign in front of the date? Whatever arithmetic functions are used to do the calculations in TMG should still work with negative integers. You then are left only with the problem that there is no year 0. The people I am putting in now have a very real probability of being my actual ancestors. For anyone who has Plantagenet descent (this includes a lot of Americans with colonial ancestors), Don Stone has a fascinating
5. Re: [TMG]Is CD supposed to ship with book. [1]
Are you talking about the book edited by Lee? I got mine yesterday also. This isn't the book that comes with the CD. It is a project of Lee's and some other posters here. It looks good, guys! Thanks. It is a lot better than the manual that came with 4.0. On Thu, 2003-05-08 at 11:40, Evelyn Hendricks wrote: > My book came today too. I thought the CD was going to ship with it. 6. [TMG] Problem with early dates [1]
For the first time this weekend I was entering people prior to 100 AD and find that TMG won't handle these dates properly. If the date is between 10 and 100 AD, it generates a "fix century" error, although by ignoring you can finally get the program to accept the date. Between 1 and 10 AD, even if you enter something like 0005 for the date, it makes it an irregular date. For BC dates, it makes everything irregular and doesn't sort properly. Any way to fix this?
7. Re: [TMG] New Buglet? [1]
That is the way it works on my computer also. If you use TAB key, it goes through the surety fields and you get the default doubling, if you use ENTER, you don't. Glad to see this isn't just me. 8. [TMG] TMG5.07 - Tag Entry screen, F2 pop-up window [0.871795]
In the Tag Entry F2 pop-window that brings up the MPL records, duplicate places are collapsed into one record, so I cannot choose one over the other. For example, I have two records with all of the same values in the level 1 thru level 10 fields, but there is a different value in the Comments field and each has a different Place Style - how does one pick the desired record from this pop-up window? beth
9. RE: [TMG] Multiple exhibits for a person or event? [0.871795]
My exhibit wish list would include: 1. being able to make an exhibit that is attached to an event PRIMARY - now if the only picture I have of someone is, for example, their wedding picture, I have to attach it to the person as well as the marriage event if I want it to be primary. 2. having exhibits handled more like sources are - add them once to an exhibit library with description, etc., then link that entry in as many places as I want (like citations) - maybe with a situation specific description (like

11. Re: [TMG] Chronological "Journal" Narrative Report [0.871795]
Beth, No need for apologies - I think the discussion has very profitably broadened out into these other areas. It seems we are all basically in agreement that we would like to be able to add sentences to relationship tags, to have them appear in the correct place chronologically in narrative reports and that we would welcome a narrative report covering more than one generation that didn't either place tags out of order or indent to the point of vanishing. On that last issue, I have just tried running a De
12. Re: [TMG] Functionality Request - Scroll [0.871795]
My mouse also does not scroll on the Master Place List. It does scroll on all other screens (at least the ones I have checked) such as Master Source List and Master Repository List. I have checked with the Windows on line site and it tells me that I have the latest driver. Emery C. Daly U. 14. RE: [TMG] Multiple exhibits for a person or event? [0.871795]
TMG is great for data, some reports, etc. Second Site is much better at the creation of web pages from your data. Neither does a good job at handling multiple images of a person or multiple person images. I use one bust photo (200x200) if available and store it in TMG. SS then makes a nice web page from the photo and data. Beside using TMG and SS I also use FamiliaBuilder ( http://dralex.com/ ) for photos, both individual and groups. It does a great job at web page creation and uses a GEDCOM, exported

17. RE: [TMG] Fonts & Reports [0.871795]
Henry, All you have to do is go to the font that you want to change say SURNAME and click on the box that says ... Then you will open a box where you can change the font size. Pick the size you want and click on OK. That should change the fonts for you. I don't notice the change when you send it to text file though. 20. [TMG] LOP Columns [0.871795]
Hello, I have created a custom Tag in the Burial group called Burial-Grave. I enter the Grave number and Burial number in L2. In the LOP, I want to print the Name, ID and Burial-Grave details. I have set up a filter that only finds people who have the Burial-Grave tag and this works ok. However, in the colums tab for the report, no Burial-Group fields appear in the drop down. So I can't get the Grave and Burial numbers in L2 to print in the report. Am I missing something or is this a 'bug'? Regards Art

Apart from the Tag types where one tag has to be Primary, such as in the Birth group, I don't need to use Primary des
23. RE: [TMG] TMG5.x - Recording Lat/Long values [0.871795]
Yes, I know Teresa, but first, I have yet another mental block where place fields are concerned. First, with the exception of Postal Code and Phone, I tend to view the remaining fields as hierarchical, that is, from lowest to highest, and to me, LatLong would be the lowest level (L1), and second, the current presentation of place fields in the Master Place List (MPL) is fixed. Maybe I will wait awhile on this to see if Wholly Genes gives us a Setup feature for the MPL - if that happens, then I could move
