2. TMG 6. Re Repository Name ID # [1]
TMG 6 Repository In the Repository Name ID # is there a way to select a name other than primary ? I have several women who are a repository and I would like their married surname to print NOT their maiden name. The only work around I have found is to NOT use their ID # and use the Name-other field. Nadine
3. 29 Feb as an irregular date?? [1]
All, I just had a date listed as 29 Feb and TMG indicated that it was an irregular date. I know that this only occurs every 4 years, but why would TMG consider it irregular? Thank you for your time, Kevin L. Sholder
4. Repositories attached to a source [1]
All, I found a source that has 300+ repositories attached to it, the funny thing is they are all the same. Any ideas why? Any reason that I shouldn't just delete all but one? Thanks, Kevin L. Sholder
5. Re: [TMG] 6.01 Upgrade [1]
Hello, Further to my previous mail, I moved the update file (tmguk600601update) from where I had saved it to the same folder where all the TMG files are. Now when I try to run the update, it complains about the missing upgrade engine. No message about incorrect version now but still can't update MG. 7. Re: [TMG] Extraneous [:CR:] being inserted in citation details and memo tags [1]
I guess I have to retract my statement that I didn't put the [:CR:]s there! All is well, however, thanks once again to John Cardinal's utility which I used to strip them out. Thanks for the explanations of their cause; I was at a loss to understand what was happening! 8. RE: [TMG] Project Location Not Sticking [1]
I'm not calling the project. TMG is supposed to start with the last used project open. Or at least that's how mine is supposed to start. I was not aware that TMG requires folder names to be all one word. Suppose they have to be less than 8 characters too? Or was it 7? I can't remember that far back. I have made the change and will see how it works. Thanks. 14. Mapping and place info for UK users [1]
Hi list This is a re-posting of a previous question, but under a more useful heading... Is there a UK user who would care to volunteer the contents of their PLACEINFO.INI and PLACEMAP.INI files, please? I suspect that these files may already be UK-enabled for those who have the UK version of the program. It's just that I bought mine before the UK version was released, and my setup only knows about GEOnetNames Server on Nima.mil, which doesn't seem too good for uk names. Michael
15. RE: [TMG] Maximum number of repositories? [1]
I suspect that instead of hitting a roadblock in the number of sources, that instead they have copied a repository. That will cause it to point to another repository. This is a rare bug. They need to contact tech support. 21. RE: [TMG] Self As Source & ... [1]
Donna, I am curious, why not just type those straight into TMG. Use yourself as a source. Sometimes you are the only source for an event, so don't think that you aren't important as a source. For instance, only I can tell you exactly how I felt the morning my children were born, or the morning my dad died. Sure the facts were witnessed by many other people, like my husband, mother, the doctor, even my children, but my thoughts and feelings are mine alone and I am the only source. Think how cool it woul

Lee This is what I do (...enter something like "Kanak, Carroll Co., IL" in the Short Place field of the place record) but every so often I forget to do it when I enter a new place name in a Tag Entry and, therefore, I have a filter that I run after a lot of new entries that picks up all those places where the Short Place field is empty because I forgot to go back and enter the short place! I wish that there was some way to enter data into the Short Place field at the same time that I am entering a new pla

Sounds to me like the program is just still busy, and hasn't refreshed parts of the screen yet, same as what I saw with the flag problem, which, by the way, did not happen with every individual. Wait 2 and a half minutes and see if it eventually finishes.
