1. TMG-L: Espia Error [1]
While working on exhibits, an error message started coming up with some frequency. It reads: "Espia Images for Foxpro. Espia for Windows has disconnected. To reconnect, release and reload the ESPIA_l.Fll library>" I can detect nothing gone/not working/erractic.... I'm stumped. What is this? Where is the ESPIA Library? rondie - ---------------------------------------------------------- || Come ride The River ------- http://www.theriver.com/ || - -----------------------------------------------------
2. TMG-L: Accuracy of data [0.969006]
Although we may sometimes be satisfied with learning the name of a person on our tree, we usually want as many dates as we can find. This week, I encountered an unexpected "contradiction". My daughter-in-law's grandfather passed away last week. My son told me it happened Friday morning (19 Nov). The obituary in the newspaper said 19 Nov, the program at the funeral said 19 Nov. During the eulogy, the pastor said 18 Nov! Curious about the discrepancy, I asked my daughter-in-law's mother. She hadn't se

It sounds like you are using an Address tag instead of the Burial Tag. The Burial tag only has fields for detail, city, county, state, and country. 5. TMG-L: Names, places and related problems [0.969006]
A problem that keeps reappearing on this list is that of names and naming conventions in different cultures: Scandinavian, Jewish, Arab, and Spanish to name a few. A second problem that has arisen is that of place designations, in which the "standard", i.e., United States, usage does not always work well for people from, say, England, where ecclesiastical and political hierarchies of place names are intertwined. A third problem I have run into is that I find there are not enough source elements of

7. TMG-L: Incorrect Source types [0.969006]
Hello! Wow, I didn't expect such a quick response to my question. Thanks Les. I have a nagging problem with an import I did from the Ultimate Family Tree. In that program I created a source template called "Funeral Card". However, TMG, lists the source type as "Baptism Record". First why would it not import the original source type? Secondly, I want to create a source type called "Funeral Card". TMG forces me to select a source this record is "most similar to". Nothing in the list is similar. Is there

This is a great group! Important discussions pop up all the time. With that said-- over the years, I have come to dislike in the extreme those extra keystrokes I can avoid, and doing inter-computer data transfers through the SQZ file (as Lee suggests below) definitely adds a lot of keystrokes. However, I will do what's necessary to ensure the integrity of my data files. Presently, I just starting the following process, and now is the time to change to a totally safe procedure. So-- what are the dangers

Bud, I have a document similar to yours, and this is what I did. I have a letter, written in 1862 by a direct ancestor, residing in Michigan. He was obviously writing to his daughter in Wisconsin, who had asked about her family. He spelled out where she could write to all her brothers and sisters (spread across the midwest). His daughter must have asked whether her grandfather was still living, and so he also detailed the fact that her grandfather Conklin had died 8 years earlier and then went on to m

Hi, Gee Gee, That sounds like an interesting way to accomplish meeting your needs. At this time I have no Welsh names. I had come across the Wesh website, and thought it might be of help to you. Did you post your reply to the TMG-L? There may be someone else that would find your reply helpful. I'm still standing on the sides with TMG, learning from all the posts. 17. TMG-L: Report focus - deleting witnesses [0.969006]
Is there a way to run a search for information on a tag without also getting the witnesses to that tag? For example - a search for anyone naturalized with an address of High St. will also list the witnesses to the naturalization or a search for anyone listed as a teacher in a census listing will give everyone else enumerated with the teacher. 19. TMG-L: Printing exhibits in the individual narrative [0.969006]
The more I delve into TMGW the more I realise how much care and hard work has been put into its construction. The best genealogy program continues to impress. I have recently discovered the exhibit attachment facility in the tag entry screen. I have tried entering a trial photograph's details but I cannot see how this information reaches the report stage; it certainly doesn't seem to arise in the individual narrative. Is there something that I am doing wrong, or is it not possible not only to refer to
20. TMG-L: Size Limit in List of Events Report [0.969006]
I am trying to print a list of events report with output that includes the full memo field. My problem is TMG will not let me set the output column size for the memo at more than 254 characters. Am I doing something wrong or is this a limit set by the program? 23. RE: TMG-L: new to list (merge multiple sources) [0.969006]
I know what you are talking about. I have 2000 "sources" imported from FTW last year and I just finished editing/merging number 500 yesterday. There is no easy way around it - the problem is FTW "sources" were just free text boxes where TMG's "sources" are much more rigorous. The "identical sources" you want to merge as one set really are slightly different, e.g. you may have entered "page 113" in one and "page 247" in another. Most of my FTW "sources" were actually three sources all entered in one FTW te

I use the template for Electronic Database (Family File). I assign a surety of 1 -- in my personal surity scheme I use 0 for guesses that have only the slightest hint of evidence to support them, and I assume the compiler has slightly more than that to go on. If the compiler gives a general statement of sources but doesn't assign them to individual entries, I note them in the memo space of the source definition. When the compiler gives source information that is linked to specific entries, I handle them
