1. [TMG] FTST [1]
I am currently using TMG 4.0d and don't seem to have the problems that some of you have with crashing, etc. I am running it on an iMac using Virtual PC and Windows 98 SE. My question really concerns the newly released FTST. I have looked at all the info on Wholly Genes website and like many of the features I see offered. What I don't understand is the emphasis on features that I think I already have, such as Relationship calculator, date calculator and the like. What was not clear is what changes were made

I'm using Version 5. The latest version 6 and 7 have added a lot of new features but for me I'm ok with the features of Version 5. You can download a trail version from their web site, 30 days. It is fully functional nothing is disabled. 5. [TMG] Research Log & Sources [0.871892]
Thank you to all who offered suggestions regarding the Research Log. One person mentioned the current strengths of sources in FTM. I went back to it after having played with TMG. I was quickly reminded why I purchased TMG . . . FTM lacks the documentation features I am looking for. Speaking of which . . . I am starting with an entry for me. I am trying to find suitable templates for old school programs, diplomas, etc. I have not been able to figure which to use. Any suggestions? Also, when I use a
6. [TMG] Bad Trans has silver lining? [0.871892]
I am running Windows 98 SE. Thanks to this List, I scurried off to avail myself of the security patch and critical product downloads (in that order) from the Microsoft site, applying everything on Monday night - in time to repel a would-be attack on Tuesday morning. Tonight, I launched TMG _after_ Outlook Express, an event which has usually been guaranteed to bring my system to a shuddering stop. It didn't. I have also exited TMG with OE running, dialled up and relaunched TMG while on-line, again with n

8. Re: [TMG] GEDCOM Export Concern(was How to Filter for Witnesses?) [0.871892]
Sorry, can't let it rest. Here are a couple more thoughts on this. 1) If Genbridge were a two-way street how would you deal with this same issue? i.e. a census event in TMG with 8 people attached to it could not exported that way to Legacy. In Legacy it would have to be 8 census events, one for each person enumerated. The issue is not so much one of GEDCOM, but one of event-based software vs lineage linked software. 2) I am by no means an expert in GEDCOM, but I'm somewhat familiar with it and h
9. Re: [TMG] Import from R3 or UFT [0.871892]
Pam, I have the same issue with a few datasets, and decided a while back that I would get more of my data across to TMG if I went from R3 to UFT and then Genbridged to TMG. Someplace I saw a table that lists all the elements that are converted from each program, but I can no longer find it (what I remember seeing is not in the TMG Reference Manual). But it showed a lot more coming over from UFT than from R3. I haven't actually tested this by bringing one of my old R3 datasets directly to TMG. But I

I sometimes get "unknown repository address" in the endnotes, whether or not Unique is checked, but not in the Full footnote preview - does anyone know why (see example below)? Garth, what kind of tag did you use for showing where the husband lived? To behave as you described, that tag would have to be in the Marriage or Divorce groups, as strange place for a tag about where someone lived. Terry

Karen, I personally believe this program is going to be around a long time. The reason I suppose he doesn't upgrade is because TMG is hugely efficient and effective just the way it is. At least from my point of view. I consider it a plus that this is not a big company...no charges for technical support, no upgrades that cost me $$$$ every few months. In fact, I consider that a major problem with FTM....upgrades every time you turn around. In my mind,, this "mom and son" ( as opposed to a "mom and po

Thanks for the button tip - that does work. I have Windows ME but received a coupon for a free upgrade to XP. 22. [TMG] New timelines [0.871892]
With your guidance from "Artist timelines" and "Editing timelines" post I've created some new databases via Excel and Access which I'll let you have when they've been refined a bit. One irksome problem - in Access I create memo fields for the "Event" and number fields for "Day", "Month" and "Year". No matter whether I put zeros or nothing in empty day or month fields they always show up as 0._0. rather than _ __ which is rather ugly - can anyone help? Peter www.duckspool.com
