1. Re: [TMG] OT: Body Donated to Institution [1]
Do you have a copy of the document she signed? Dollars to doughnuts it did say that no remains would be returned. Usually a very large incinerator is used to burn the cadavers. It isn't like at a funeral home where individual ashes are kept. 3. Re: [TMG] PDA comparision [1]
If you go with factory reconditioned (they were DOA out of the box and were returned, fixed, and sold with 90 day warranties), you can get a color Sony Palm OS with 16MB for $149 (Fry's), and a Toshiba Pocket PC e740 with 64MB and WiFi from eCost.com for $189. As far as monochrome, that's a thing of the past. The Visor Prism I bought 3 years ago has a color screen. Not as nice as the Toshiba Pocket PC I have, but it is still color. The new color Palms are as good as the Pocket PC screens. As far as pro

5. [TMG] Add new daughter, son or child [0.871795]
I am using version 5.09 I have the father on the screen as the named person. He has a marriage tag with his wife's name and ID no. Now I highlight the name tag and go to add daughter. As soon as I click on Add, the highlight of the name disappears. Select second parent screen appears. But the wife is not on there. So I click on identify another person and put her ID no in there. I click OK and suddenly the Help Topics screen appears. I click cancel and the screen then freezes and I click ESC to get o

Hi Paul, Here's the way I just got it to occur... Two principles already exist in the data base. An existing marriage tag is there; open it; make additions to the memo box. F4>F3 to add a citation, F9 to close the citation. Click on the Other Witnesses tab. Click on the "+" to add a witness. **Hit F2** to check to see if the witness already exists. Escape when I find he doesn't. Click on the add person icon in the upper right corner. Add the name details, F4>F3 to site the same source. F9>F9 in quick succe
12. RE: [TMG] Pre-surname [0.871795]
Yes, the pre-surname field is intended for things link "van", "von" "de" "le" or any prefix in front of the name when you don't want that to affect the sorting. Thus van Gogh, with the van in the pre-surname field would sort under "G". The standard name style does not use the pre-surname field so you need to create a custom style to use it. I wish the Standard style included the pre-surname field (and the prefix field) in its output templates. Richard Damon -- rbrdamon@rcn,.com (Home) rdamon@beltronicsinc

As I understand it, you think that TMG should assume that people are married if they are on the same "family card" in Generations

As always, it depends on how you want to use the data. First, it means that the person only appears once, under that full name. So if you look in the Picklist for "Collins, Tom" you won't find him there. Whether or not that's a problem probably depends on how many Collins you have in your dataset, and how well you know them. 18. RE: [TMG] UFT to TMG Conversion - First Attempt [0.871795]
Bob I had my mind elsewhere when I wrote about not being able to change the source data on import from UFT. Of course you can change the way it is imported. In Step 6 of the advanced wizard there are several options associated with sources. Just select the ones you wish to use, and experiment. In step 6, I would select all of the options in the "Other" category except "Import empty birth events" and I would only import the "Event types" that are used as a starting place. Good luck Myrnice Bob & Anne L

20. [TMG] TMG 5.10 Error Report: Repeat List F3 not working for Reference Field [0.871795]
I find that the Repeat list is not storing the values I enter into the Reference Field (in the upper right hand corner of the Person Details View). 1. I open the Reference field by double-clicking on it. 2. I type the [F3] key (which has always worked in previous versions) 3. I receive the message "No repeat values found for this field" So far, Repeat values [F3] seems to be working for other fields. Greg

Hi Terry, As a newbie to TMG I have also had problems about those buttons. Could they be labelled: Save format - this saves the definition file Save report - this saves the actual report Print report - this prints the actual report Sue Well, that's exactly what it does here -- save the report definition file. 'Course the problem is we're sometimes working with two separate files here -- the report definition, and also the report itself, if it's being sent to a file. I think that's the source of the con
22. Re: [TMG] Buglett v. 5.10 - new tag [0.871795]
Bobbie, If the 'fatal errors' that you describe are C0000005 errors, we know about that and the programmers are working on it. These errors come from using the keyboard and never come (as far as I know) in this context when using the mouse. A particular sequence to produce an error is useful as well as the first error message. There is no point to reporting error messages after the first (such if you click Ignore). Thanks for the help.
