1. [TMG] Corruption Problems [1]
Re my problems with MRL & MPL -- I went to Windows Explorer and looked at the problem dataset. Under the column "file type," instead of a designation as "DBF" or "FPT," it is showing "Active Server Document." I have updated my virus definitions and run a system scan and things are coming up clean. Advice? Should I just delete this database and start over? It is salvageable and fixable? CheriC
2. [TMG] Create report to find people with "?" for Living [1]
Hi Everyone, I'm thinking about reposting my database to WorldConnect. Before doing that, I'd like to make sure that I fix mistakes I've made like leaving a "?" for Living for people who probably are living, but I don't know for sure. Folks born in the last 50 years or so. Suggestions on making a report to find them? Thanks! Michele

Microsoft explained that the released version of XP would recognize a hard-coded list of such
4. [TMG] Question on "Refresh" in FTST [1]
Good morning First, I'd like to thank all the kind people (Astrid, Jim, Allen, Bob and others) who responded concerning the viewing of two databases at once. Great help, and all the options are viable and workable :-) Now I have another question, this time on the "Refresh" option after editing a TMG database contained in a FTST project. I currently have two computers on which I have installed FTST. The machines have different hard disk configurations (home has two hard drives, work has five). FT

Nigel, See Bob's reply to you a few minutes ago. The download is being managed by a web store host (Digital River) on Wholly Genes behalf. The problem is with them, not Wholly Genes. 7. Re: [TMG] Effect of Exclusion Markers in FTST [1]
Allen Mellen commented that the removal of the exclusion markers in P1 and/or P2 may have been by design since with item tips turned on you can now see the full contents of the memo field. If they were removed intentionally I would like to request that they be "put back" :). It does constitute a change in my data and upsets a complex system of accenting I have long used and loved. Now, since I can't exclude P2 from showing up on P1's screen (or vice versa), I also get P2's accent color showing up on P1's

13. FW: [TMG] Friends in TMG [1]
That works pretty well Joe and the sentence is OK in most cases. The only problem? is when "Fred" and "Joe" (male friends)get called spouses in some reports and are described as having no children! Not really a problem and may be appropriate sometimes! I've concluded that running XP on the new machine is the only way to go. Mainly it's the stability issues that drive that conclusion, and I really don't want to start with Win2k and upgrade later. But I've run the XP compatibility checker and find a lot of concerns - enough that I'm consi
15. [TMG] A brief look at FTST [1]
Go and find out. The Mongoose looks at Family Tree SuperTools I have to admit that I was disappointed when Bob Velke first announce that Family Tree SuperTools would be released before TMG 5. I have used TMG since version 3.0 for Windows was released and I am fond of its strengths and impatient with its weaknesses. I'm as eager for TMG 5 as anyone. Since Family Tree SuperTools will not allow data input and will have only Visual Chart Form reports, I wondered what benefit FTST offers to the us

18. [TMG] data entry [1]
Well, here's my dumb question for the day. Both in Roots III and FTM, it was possible to just key in a few letters or hit an F key to repeat information so it wasn't necessary to have to type the whole thing out over and over. Is there such a think in TMG? Barb
19. Re: [TMG] Witness Roles? [1]
Ran into an interesting situation when entering wills. There are times when an individual in my dataset signed his/her name as a witness on a will. Wanted to enter that information in a tag but didn't want to create a record for the deceased (no known relationship, could just be a neighbor). There was no way, I could find, to assign a principal a witness designation. Created a role "DocWit" so I could enter the tag and assign the principal the "DocWit" role. If later I find the deceased person is of more i
