1. Re: [TMG] v 6.11 woes- cannot install [1]
Hi Sydney One of my friends had a problem with a TMG install, even after completely disabling Norton. Then, when she did a cold boot to the PC and kept Norton disconnected, the install worked OK. Her next step would have been to boot the PC up in Safe mode to try the install from there, but in her case that was unnecessary. Hope this helps. 2. Re: [TMG] Can't import directly from PAF - problem is memory resources [1]
Dora, 512Mb is considered minimum just to run Windows XP. Under the circumstances you describe, I can believe you have memory limitations. The 2Gb of virtual memory does not help -- it means "write segments to disk whenever you run out of physical memory", which slows things way down. I would also guess that your 2Gb virtual memory and 1.2Gb paging space are maximums -- that they may be limited by a percentage of your available hard disk space and you may not be getting the maximums you have set up. I rec
3. [TMG] FOxpro [1]
Hello, I have just recovered from a hard drive crash. I have a new hard drive and the old one is still installed as a 'slave' drive. All my programs have been moved to the new drive and all work ok - except TMG V6.9 UK edition. When I start TMG I get the message ' Cannot find the Microsoft Visual Foxpro support library'. I have searched the new and old drives for any file related to Foxpro and cannot find any. When I try to start TMG from the old 'slave' drive I get the same message. I have TMG o

5. [TMG] Problem with Source after v6.11 upgrade [1]
I'm having a problem with a new source I created by copying an existing Civil War source. The new source will not let me fill in the Military Unit field. No matter what I do, it changes the info to a person named John Cooper (11). I see it happen as I click the [OK] after typing the correct info "11th Vermont Volunteers" (without the quotes). I tried deleting the newly created source, ran optimize, ran VFI. Then again went into MSL, selected the existing Civil War source and copied it. In the newly

Thanks Lee and Myrnice, Both your suggestions worked perfectly. Linda, here in Arizona, had earlier walked me through the List of Events/Custom Flag combination so I was able to use your suggestions and finish my work "pronto". Many Thanks for the prompt accurate response. I appreciate it. Hello, I guess the problem was that the registry no longer contained any info about Foxpro. I deleted TMG and reinstalled. Restored backup from my laptop and all is working now. Thanks Jim. Teresa, The problem is that when the tag is duplicated, the task needs to be duplicated and linked to the new tag and that's not happening correctly. And both the original tag and original task should be untouched. Reported. Jim

10. The same problem reported in September 2003 in V5 has reoccurred - import without a submitter in GEDCOM file [1]
Dear List, The same problem that I reported in September 2003 and was cured has now been sighted in V6.09UK It occurs if the submitter record is missing. That is if the two lines 0 @S0@ SUBM 1 NAME Phil Warn (or similar) are omitted. TMG reacts by jumping the last number and adding in the next integer numbered record. That is if 200 records are imported into an empty project, the records are numbered 1:1 to 1:199 and 1:201 Jim Byram confirmed it to me off list in September 2003, over three years
11. Re: [TMG] MoBo failure; new drive [1]
Teresa: Fortunately, I'm a compulsive back-upper, having once lost all my data. Not only are my data sequestered on its own drive. I have daily backups of that drive on two different drives (I swap the backup drives 1/month), but also have that data drive completely backed up daily to a third, external USB drive. It's that external drive that I today hooked up to this ancient laptop I'm using so I could at least access my online banking records and pay bills. My TMG databases and associated exhibitd
12. Re: [TMG] Map files [1]
At this time place exhibits don't print except as an option in SecondSite. If you use SecondSite or if TMG did print them, you have to consider the exclusion problme. Individual exhibits can't be marked excluded. I use maps as place exhibits, but have things arranged so I'm not including items probably under copyright. As to how I organize maps, I save them to a Maps subfolder in my Exhibits folder in My documents. Barbara ----- Original Message ----

14. Re: [TMG] 6.11 old/new bug - Backup [1]
Judith, I have used my old (from some earlier version of TMG) 'shortcut' on the toolbar for backing up my v11 project a couple of times. I just did a restore, to a temporary location and answering 'No to all' to the queries about overwriting various existing ini and report files, etc. Everything seems to look good. VFI shows no errors. John Cordes On [2006-10-18 at 01:30pm] J Lipmanson wrote: > By the way, has anyone tried restoring a backup made from > the menu with 6.11?

Teresa Elliott I think this is directed primarily at you, but I want to get other's ideas too. I am using Teresa's roles and sentences for my tags relating to the whole process of wills and probate. My question is: I have a will that assigns both administrator and executors to the will. Teresa, your WILL tag doesn't have either of these roles associated with it. You have those two roles associated with your PROBATE tag. Do you see any reason why I should not use the roles of Administrator and Executor

Steinar, I posted the reply because I wasn't confident that I had seen a response that answered your question sufficiently. The fact that I was "late" with the information is irrelevant to your question and my response. You simply asked "When you are installing a program and someone talk about a bad install - I would like to know what a bad install is?" and I tried to answer your question. I apologize if you did not say "I would recommend not using 6.10 before they have come up with a better update.
