Have you considered an "artificial person"..maybe named RESEARCH, or whatever... with the sources as events, or notes in Research's life history? You can see at a glance which works/authors you have previously consulted, with more detailed notes in the memo sections of each event. does this make sense to you? rondie At 06:16 PM 9/6/2000 -0500, you wrote: >Teresa -- > >We are both on the same wave length...I was referring to negative searches >before TMG not future ones. I changed it, and #51 moved to first spot. The four are arranged in order of the 'Last Edited' date, with the most recent f
4. [TMG] Advice onEspia Images for FoxPro [0.970183]
I have imported from UFT into TMG Gold Edition 4.0 and upgraded to 4.0a When I go to the Exhibit Log to read the text messages [Death, Birth Notices from newspapers] which have come over from UFT I can read them. Then when I exit to get back I get the following message: Espia Images for FoxPro Espia for Windows has disconnected To reconnect, release and reload the ESPIA_I.FLL library I don't think that this has anything to do with the transfer from one program to another. 6. Re: [TMG] "Gremlins" in Death Tags? [0.970183]
Astrid, Yesterday I wanted to have a look at the Master Place List after enterring a lot op people. I got a list without Countries, States and Counties. I could not get it going. Then I closed the TMG and restarted the program; hereafter the correct MPL came up and worked allright. I can't understand your or my trouble. This is an example of a data element that is not in the GEDCOM "standard". Yesterday I urged caution about using TMG features that are outside the GEDCOM standard. Short place names an example of where the neat capabilities of UFT and TMG can come back to bite one in the future - when one is least prepared.
8. [TMG] Positive Reporting [0.970183]
I am a long time genealogy software user. From Roots III in the late 80's to UFT the last few years. I converted to TMG 4.0a about August 20, 2000. I have been patiently watching the list since I converted and we have all read hundreds of stories, mostly negative. Finally, today I read a positive message. Someone posted that they haven't had any problems and wanted to let the list know. This is great!!! It really works as advertised. Crazy thing was that I have been sitting here for three weeks usin
9. [TMG] Tabs in Individual Narratives [0.970183]
When creating my memo fields, I am using the tab codes to create indentations. However, when I generate my individual narrative, the tabbed indentations are meager . . . approximately 1/4 of an inch when all publication conventions would indicate that they should be 1/2 inch. Is there anyway to adjust the depth of the indention WITHOUT having to put TWO tab codes in my memo fields? 10. [TMG] Import From BK - Source Problem [0.970183]
Today I received my TMG from Wholly Genes Software, and, after following the tutorial in the getting started Manual, I imported my Brothers Keeper database, some 18000+ names. The import seemed to work OK (I haven't had time to check the whole thing yet) except for my sources. The import completely butchered all my sources. I don't fancy retyping in all that data for 18000 names. Anyone have this problem and have any solutions?? I don't have time for this. This TMG was supposed to assist my documentation,

The reason was probably prejudice against Franco-Americans, or a desire to visibly acculturate, or some combination of these. Here in northern New Hampshire, I've seen dozens if not hundreds of examples of names of French origin which have been Anglicized. In some c

Tim, While I agree that some of the numbers show better quality you have to be careful about what they mean. For instance I'm currently going through my database and using my "Assumption" source. This is for when I have information that I believe to be true but no documentation yet. For instance no marriage source but I've found them on 4 census reports so I assume they were married and use the assumption as my source along with the census citations. That's 5 citations for one event, however the surety is
