1. RE: [TMG] Scanners and resolution [1]
Kathryn, I increase the size of all of my scans. However, I use a rule of thumb of producing no image greater than 14" in either direction (The file size becomes too big for my 512mb RAM). Generally I just set it at 200% and run with it. However, I use 150% and 186% for some and 400%, for example, on those tiny photos produced by the kiosks in public places. I have even scanned at 800% in many cases. The reasoning is the same as yours -- I can always scale down by throwing away detail, it is very difficul

3. RE: [TMG] A second Site question [1]
Sam Here are a few ideas of things to try: In TMG Bring up Frank L Stevens in person view and, under the Windows menu, select image. If you don't see it then your problem is in TMG Open preferences and go to Current Project Options. Make sure the exhibit Folder path is set correctly. If nothing else works, try a reindex and optimize . In Second Site Try closing and the opening SS again. Make sure TMG is closed when you open SS. Double check to make sure you have the correct project and dataset sel

6. [TMG] F2 Editing [1]

7. Re: [TMG] February [1]
Richard, That would be a niceity. But calendars are a regional thing also. For instance, You would have to mark the transition from the Julian calendar to Gregorian calendar based on the region it occured in. Most Roman Catholic Regions Changed in the 1500's most Protestants in the 1700's, Russian changed in the 1900's. Some regions had a instant change. On oct so and so, we shall change the calendar so the next day is 11 days less. Other regions had a transistional change, over the next 10 years we

Lee, The only messages that I have received are the ones from you and the responses from other list members to your message post. As far as SPAM filters go, EV1 has added that, but all they do is put SPAM: infront of the suspect message. Also, my other lists, M-L, BAVARIA, BAV-ANC all are working. 13. [TMG] Custom Source Types [1]
I have decided to *mark* all of my custom sources with an asterisk at the end of the name of the Source Type. These are sources that I have previously modified but am now marking. I am finding that if I open up the Custom Source by using Edit, adding the asterisk to the end of the Source Type and closing with an F9 the asterisk is *not* saved. I have to add the asterisk, tab through the templates and then save. Sometimes I have to repeat this type, tab & save process twice before the asterisk is saved.

17. Re: [TMG] Accent Ancestors-grandparents, aunts & uncles, cousins? [1]
The easiest way to accomplish this is to make use of the Related By flag, setting your ancestors at A, aunts and uncles at U, and cousins at C, then setting the Accent to look at the Related By flag. If you are still using 4.0d, then you can use a list of people to set the flags for you, if you are up to 5.03, then you will need to set the flags manually. Tricia

Doug, Take an umbrella! And here's something else you might not have thought of. A flashlight. By shining a flashlight at different angles across the inscription you can see what you might not have been able to discern otherwise. Of course you may have to wait till the sun goes down! As for the rain -- that's what makes these trips fun! There is nothing that beats walking through a peaceful graveyard in the rain reading inscriptions. The last time that happened to me I enjoyed every m

I'm not familiar with Photopackrat, but I use a simple program called CompuPic from Photodex. It's great and easy to use. It is found at http://www.photodex.com/ Like you, I have scanned lots of photos and 35mm slides. CompuPic is a great thumbnail viewer, allowing me to see thumbnails of lots of pictures at once, create different folders to keep them in, etc. It is also a pretty good photo editor for cropping and adjusting color and size. It will easily convert photos from *.tiff or *.bmp format to *
