I am trying to gather any information available on my ggggrandmother who lived in Cocke Co early to mid-1800s. She was Drucilla HOLLAND, married to James CARSON, widowed in the 1830's and last appears there in the 1850 census. Does anyone have any connection or information? There are also family stories linked to her possible Cherokee lineage and being adopted into a white family. I'm sure hoping someone can help us shed some light on Drucilla. Thanks so much. I am trying to locate informartion concerning my Great Grandmother Elizabeth A. Smith. She was known as Eliza or Lizzie but her real name is believed to be Elizabeth A. as per the 1880 Cocke County Census. She was probably born about Oct 1844 and married James Holt about 1866-67. Here is some information about MATHES, especially for Marilyn Ball. Dorcas MATHES m. Nicholas COPELAND 31 Jan 1797, Jefferson Co. TN. She would have been born before 1782 to marry in 1797, probably earlier. Maybe someone who is researching the COPELAND family would have more about Dorcas.
