Am looking for information on the Dennis/Hartsell/Williams/Matthews/Shultz
families of Cocke and Sevier Counties. I have quite a bit of my family tree
already, and would like very much to set up correspondence with others of the
same lines so that we can share or perhaps learn more. Also, if anyone knows
of any books, recent research in these areas, or other web sites where I might
find info, that would be great as well. Thanks!

I am trying to gather any information available on my ggggrandmother who
lived in Cocke Co early to mid-1800s. She was Drucilla HOLLAND, married
to James CARSON, widowed in the 1830's and last appears there in the
1850 census. Does anyone have any connection or information? There are
also family stories linked to her possible Cherokee lineage and being
adopted into a white family. I'm sure hoping someone can help us shed
some light on Drucilla. Thanks so much.

My great grandfather George Washington LANE, b ca1800 Cocke Co., TN, was the

Here is some information about MATHES, especially for
Marilyn Ball.
Dorcas MATHES m. Nicholas COPELAND 31 Jan 1797, Jefferson
Co. TN. She would have been born before 1782 to marry in
1797, probably earlier. Maybe someone who is researching
the COPELAND family would have more about Dorcas. It is
proof that there were MATHES in the area by 1797.
Marilyn, maybe you should put a query in Jefferson County
GenWeb.
