Mitchell:
Glad to see this message. Tells me lot that I didn't know. Wish there was some way we could pool everything all of us know.
I have a group of Martin/League researchers that forward everything I find. Don't remember if I am on the list. Anyway I will pass this info. on to them.
Mitchell, have you found and noticed the relationship between the Fosters and the Lanes. If my data and calculations are correct there were three Foster siblings that married three Lane siblings. Now that is rare but
Thanks so much, Mitch, for sending this in! The replies have been coming
in! That's good!
More later,
Liz

PLEASE HELP ME????
I am looking for info on my grtgrtgrandfather Andrew or Andy Smith born abt.
1859 (I don't know where he was born) He married Mary Jane Cubbins on 08 MAR
1879 in Dekalb County, TN and they lived in Smithville, Dekalb co. TN and had
seven children -Claude, Emma, James, Ella Mae, Eula Lee, William, and Charles.
Andrew moved to Overton county TN sometime before 1910 and
I descend from one of the Foster/Lane marriages. My 2nd greatgrandfather,
Samuel Owens Florida, had three sisters who all married his Uncles. The other
little puzzle is that Samuel Owens Florida had three sisters, but one sister
only had one sibling and that was her brother. While two of sisters had one
sister and one brother.

Mr. Jones:
This is very interesting information on the Leagues and related families
of my ancestral neighborhood on the Caney Fork and the familiar
immigration routes of our ancestors.
As I'm sure you know, the League's farm on the Caney Fork was near
where the new Hurricane Bridge crosses Center Hill lake. League Grove
School was there and served the area prior to WWII. It's all under
water, of course, since 1948.
The Leagues had several slaves, who took their name and lived on in the
community. I r
Paul,
I did not mention that about 2 years ago I attended the Samuel League reunion
in Silver Point, TN. Best reunion I have attended.

Hello Clyde,
I noticed that you mention a Watts Ridge. I am a Watts descendant. What
can you tell me about Watts Ridge? Was it named for some specific people
who lived there? I had never heard of it.
My Watts were in Jackson Co., TN in the very early 1800s, later in Smith,
DeKalb and Warren Counties. My g.grandfather was Isaac Pleasant Watts
(1821-1900) and he was married to Mary "Polly" Ellender Atnip
(1931-1867). He married (2) Nancy H. Patterson (b. 1841).
On my Parsley line, my g. grandfather, Judd
Clyde: I am going to forward your message to Barbara V., a descendant of Hillman and Dicy League who were League slaves. She had done a lot of research tracing them back into Virginia. I am sure she would like to have that information.
I am a g-g-grandson of Edmund and Mary League.
Which of their descendants are the ones you are referring to in your message? I believe that their sons Ryley and Dabney settled in DeKalb.
Thanks for all the info.

Edmund was in Greenville County, SC for a while with Joab. I do not know for
sure, but most League researchers do think that Joab's father, James, and
Edmund's father Aaron were brothers.

With all this talk of Leagues this might be a good time to request any
information anyone might have on the death of Joshua League.
Josh, as he was called on his daughter's death certificate, was the son of
Dabney League. He married Moses Pedigo's daughter, Jennie (Eliza Jane
Pedigo).
Josh seems to have died in his late twenties about 1862. I have heard that
there may have been something of a scandal concerning his death, but I don't
have any details. I've heard roumors he was shot by a jealous husband
