8. [TNGRAING-L] Coffman families, early Grainger Co [1]
I am looking for the husband of Mary Boyers Coffman, married probably in Claiborne County before 1830. Mary was a daughter of Rev War vet Michael Boyers, and is identified in old family papers simply as 'Mary Cofman' - no age, marriage date or place of residence. Her siblings were born between 1796-1820. In the Grainger Co census for 1840 I find several heads of household named Coffman: 2 Andrews, Frederick, George, Rinehart and Rhinehart. Is anyone researching these families? Nancy

Many of you may have gone to the web site of Nelda Percival in the past but today a new list comprising over 300 pages and 3000 names have been posted to the Cupp portion of her web site. Some have been so very gracious in sharing their information and it has been brought together in one place. If you have any connection to Jacob Cupp of 1767 and Sylvia Breeding of 1770 please take a look at this site. It includes many surnames. I lost count at about 800 different surnames. The US Government was in process of trying to codify Surnames right before the Civil War. The project was interrupted by the War. My Beans are spelled at least ten different ways and they came up with Christian names for women that were absurd. How would you like to be Clementine America or Tennessee America with some spelling of Bean stuck on the end? I remember Aunt Tennessee; she became Tennie. -j-

Hi All, Just a note to let you know I will be in Tennessee over Memorial Day weekend. I will be arriving in Knoxville on the afternoon of the 25th, and will be staying in Jefferson City. If you will be in the area that weekend, please let me know & perhaps we can get together. Betty Allen
19. [TNGRAING-L] Mary Coffman [1]
The only Mary Coffman I'm sure of is Mary L (?) Coffman, B.1815, Grainger,Tn. Showed married to Alfred Clark, b.1811, Grainger. Do not know the children. Family records show she was the first child to Rev. David Coffman,b.1787,Grainger, and Susanna Bunch,b.Virginia, and they moved to Polk Co. Missouri in 1835, Which was the time the Baptist split up in Tenn. for some reason. They moved all children and Mary is shown to be married to a Bunch in Missouri. Do not have much on who Coffman's married in way
20. [TNGRAING-L] Knoxville Obits [1]
Hi All, Ancestry has their Knoxville News-Sentinel, Obituaries, 1994-2000 (Update) as a database of the day. It gives us 10 days to gleen all the info we can -- FREE. I have a bunch of work to do to get to the good stuff because only a MYNATT search gave me 282 hits. No, not that many deaths but since there is a Mynatt Funeral Home and a minister by that name it runs up the count. Got to get back to it -- there's work to do! Gail Mynatt Zeigler

What are the families that you are looking for? Salem IN is in Washington Co. in IN The Fergusons, fultzs and Floras lived in Salem, they came from that area. I have found nothing on these families from that area. There is a small village museum in salem. I did get a marriage license for a Ferguson and Flora - my g-uncle and aunt at this museum, while there for a fall festival, years ago. I haven't found the time to look at the cenus or the web site for Washington Gen site, but will today if have time af
22. Re: [TNGRAING-L] Coffman families, early Grainger Co [1]
I am also searching for my COFFMAN connection from Grainger Co. Need parents for Leonard COFFMAN, b. 14 June 1803 in Grainger Co. He married Mary A. ?. Leonard is listed in the 1830 Census with wife and two young children. They moved to Indiana by 1835. Leonard's second son was named Rinehart, so I suspect it is likely that the Rhinehardt COFFMAN listed in the 1830 and 1840 census for Grainger Co. is his father, but need proof. Thanks, Pattie Hannon in WA state ----- Original Message ----- Fr

24. [TNGRAING-L] Mill Creek Church [1]
i've been advised to look for clues at the website of the Mill Creek Baptist Church - can't seem to find it. It appears that a number of the church members moved off in a body to Indiana - have no idea of time or exact place. I found a Mill Creek Church in Salem Indiana and one in Davidson Co TN, but no evidence that either is the one that I'm looking for. Does anyone have the url for this website, or any information as to their records? Thanx Nancy
