1. [LCT] Re: TNLINCOL-D Digest V03 #133 [1]
Hello Claudie, >From the Will of Henry Snow Sr. (below), it seems that he had, among other children, sons named William and Henry Snow Jr. I do not have a date of birth for William, but have that Henry Snow Jr. was born 2 February 1812 in North Carolina and died 10 February 1892 in probably Moore Co TN. Henry Snow Jr. married Martha Partin (born 1821 in AL, her death date??), daugther of Hightower Partin (born 1792 GA, died 1876 Lincoln Co TN) and his first wife, Nancy Holley (born 1802 SC, died 18

3. [LCT] Harwood, Kincade, Lemonds [1]
My g-g-g-grandfather was William Marion Lemonds (b. September 29, 1826, d. February 10, 1896 in Gibson County, TN). I am told that he was the son of David O. Lemonds (b. 1808, d. April 26, 1836) and Sarah Harwood (b. 1808 and died in 1877). William married Louisa E. Kincaid (b. December 06, 1824, d. August 14, 1883 in Gibson County, Tn.) in Lincoln County on September 25, 1849. Louisa Kincaid's father, I am told, but not been able to confirm, is Isaac L. Kincaid, married to Mary Tatum. Isaac is l

7. [LCT] Die Hard [1]
I guess I will never give up on this although I have told myself several times that I would. As most of you have probably heard before (and are probably sick and tired of hearing about), my brick wall was shot and killed in October of 1849. He resided in Lincoln County, presumably the Chestnut Ridge area. Here is a copy of the data from the Mortality Index attached to the 1850 census. I have searched Lincoln County court records, periodicals, libraries, local historians, local genealogists, you name it.
8. [LCT] Thomas Wilkerson [1]
Ginny, In my 1850 LCT census book Lewis Wilkinson is still alive. He and Isabella both are 60 in household #1168, Subdivision #2. Their daughter Rosahah 20 is living with them. Household #1173 there is a Merit (Eslick or Tucker) some confusion there, with wife Amanda. Household #1176 Massey Copeland and wife Eda E. Tucker but Massey was first married to Mahalla Eslick. Going back to household #482 is Robert Warren and wife Temperance Wilkerson and family. Household #483 is Notley Wilkinson an
9. Re: [LCT] BLACK DUTCH [1]
Yes, it's a fascinating subject and I want to thank everybody who has responded to my question. I still don't have a real clear idea of what Black Dutch really means, but I believe that what you said, Cindy, makes a lot of sense about them being half white and half Indian, and not wanting to let anybody know that. Everybody in my family - my brothers and sisters, that is - we all had very dark brown hair, brown eyes that were a little bit almond shaped, and a fair complexion. My hair was (I say "was" bec

11. RE: [LCT] LOUIS A. GATLIN (LCT) [1]
Yep, this is the family I was looking for. I was hoping to find a David Hill Coble living with his daughter (wife of Louis Gatlin. I believe the A stands for Andrew. Lewis and his family lived many years in the Lincoln County area of Tennessee. David Hill Coble (my grandmother's father) died while either living or visiting this family (at least his obituary says so). David Hill Coble died in 1914 so I presume since I didn't find him in the 1910 census that he was staying with his daughter from roughly

14. Re: [LCT] Black Dutch experiment [1]
Interesting, I have this too. Would like to read some anthropological studies about this. I understand such studies have been made and that there is a research project trying to trace the earliest Native Americans thru the mother's genes. So many of us are watered down versions of the first tribes, to find a near pure stain will be difficult. Few of us can prove enough Native blood to fill out a CDIB application. Thanks for the info. Will try to find more on this. Have a blessed day.

Sharon, I found this in the 1836 Civil Dist. and Tax list, by James L. Douthat. p.23 Dist 19 Lemmons, Rachel- 80 acres p. 25 Dist 20 Lemmond, J. W. Davis, John Sr. McRee, James McRee, Wm. H. Kennedy, John-140 acres a possible?? Larwood, Ambrose Larwaood, Reuben No Harwoods listed, the only Kincade was James in Dist. 3, which this later became Moore Co., this was all the McRee's, all the Larwoods (which this could be misread and being Harwood???) and this was all the Lemmons/Lemonds. Hope this giv

Thanks, Carol, I have made the same observations. I do not have a Moberly or Mobley in my line and I know nearly all of the women's names the various generations married. But I will keep looking. 21. Re: [LCT] Black Dutch experiment [1]
List, This has been interesting! It was my grandfather who always said we were Black Dutch. He was a Warren, dark hair and skin (we all tan very easily) and light blue eyes. This trait is in all his ten children, all with striking light blue eyes. Both of my grandfathers parents were Warrens, again, the same traits...I have not been able to trace my Warrens past Daniel Warren b. 1791, but have seen where he had the blue eyes also. My grandfather never said we had indian blood in us, that suppose

24. RE: [LCT] Black Whatever [1]
Hello all, Altho... I fully enjoyed reading the possibility for "Black Irish" to be descendants of Spanish refugees.... I'm sorry to say that DNA doesn't support it. This was hashed out, and many times, on the SCOTCH-IRISH-L@rootsweb.com..... so both the discussion and source will be in the archives... or should be.
