Re: Ingles: I don't know if they lived on the Holston or not. They called
her "Betsy" (Elizabeth) Ingle and she married Reuben Logan. They had one
child, Nancy Logan who married Jeptha Harrison Shofner.Betsy was born 24 Mar
1798 in LCT. I do not know if her father was Joseph or John but think it is
Joseph.. I do not know if Reuben Logan is Reuben Butler Logan. It was her
aunt that had the husband that up and left her for another.

Wm is my husband's ancestor but also Governor Gordon Browning's & his

Anyone know for sure about this man's name? Mildred Moore

Julia, Thanks for the census on Small. When I read your note about the "adopted", I knew you got that from Tom King. I have tried to explain to him that white people who had slaves or just "help", they wrote them in their Bibles, usually down at the bottom of a page. Yes, those were the Small slaves I mentioned. My mother's Uncle Jeff King (Ephraim Jefferson) married Elizabeth Pina Small in 1866. They had a large family & probably after the last child was born, moved to Marshall Co, TN. He & some of t
Thanks Suzanne. We are sure there will be many who will be interested in
your Hill line in our new Heritage book. You are right on track. Prepare
your own story
and submit it yourself. In past County Heritage book projects we've found
that the only way to be certain your ancestors and family are included is to
do it yourself ! So you are right on track. We'll be looking for your
Samuel M. Hill story...and don't be bashful. Bring the
story all the way to the present! Folk will want to know about you
Good write up, but Lincoln was at one time Bedford. MM

Hi Mildred,
Here's what I wanted to send you, as long as we're on the subject of wills.
Have had this in a box for years. Got it prior to 1995 in the DAR in WDC.
Read all three numbered paragraphs.
1. Bottom Line: my Solomon Stewart buying a bull from the Sarah Biggers
estate.

Ms. Charity:
Bless your heart. After 25 years, we've only heard this complaint ("can't
write enough material") 3-4 times. Wow!
Share your words with a relative, friend, kissin' cousin... what-have-you.
That way you can just spread the joy!
Lets clarify some of the language. We say 500 words per household. Not per
surname. That way, it is possible that dozens of Goodwins, Beddingfields,
Bevels ad infinitum can be included in the book. Truly, Pioneers in Lincoln
by or before 1836 are eligible for anot

Lucy,
The "Lincoln County, TN. Official Marriage Records 1838-1880" by Marsh had a
marriage between, J. B. Tigert and Margaret A. Crawford 19-Oct-1858 by J. B.
Warren. That is the only Tigert in the book by any spelling.

BUCHANAN Surname
In this post you have mentioned the BUCHANAN surname. The first PROSSER to
settle in Lincoln County was William Buchanan PROSSER in 1806 [Goodspeed
History Moore Co.]. My question is since William B. Prosser's middle name is
BUCHANAN, could William Buchanan Prosser's mother have been a Buchanan and
he received the middle name from this family tie. The area that you are
referring to in this post is within the area of where they settled.
Thank you!
Bobby Prosser

William and Betsy show up in my records (thus far) the first time in Madison County, AL when they married on December 20, 1821 (Book 3, page 140) (License was recieved on 18th of Dec) married by Jno. Buckner, J.P.
According to Daisy and and Mrs. Effie Simmons Shelton William Williams purchased land on Hester's creek near Elora, TN on Jan. 20, 1839 and the estate was settled 1876 after the death of Elizabeth (Betsy) Carrol Williams though I do not have a copy of this information as yet.
The next document
No, there was first Bedford. It was extra large, then Lincoln was made out
of it in 1809, & Marshall in 1836.
