A reminder to those on the mailing list. I am a volunteer for lookups in
the Marsh book on Lincoln county marriages. I also have a three volume set
called "Land Deed Genealogy of LCT"; furthermore, I have access to all
censuses for all states through 1900, and the Lincoln county Pioneers vols
1 thru 7.
In addition to the marriage index, our library also has microfilm of some
of the marriages (I don't remember what dates they cover..thru 1868, I
think), and I have Lincoln county Wills on microfilm thru a
Hi:
To say the least, the response has been overwhelming. I will try to get to
all of these as soon as possible. The library will be closed Thursday thru
Saturday for the holidays.
If possible, could all of you who posted to the TN Lincoln request list
please send me a direct email? I just tried to print out the digest on my
slow laser printer and it was over 20 pages.
I do genealogy in a kinda funny way...if I have requests for lookups, I
just print out the email and take it with me to the librar
Great of you to offer to do lookups. I'm having a real problem with some
relatives that lived in Lincoln County around 1840 until ?. Their names are
Smith Scroggins (Scoggins) and Tabitha George (I know Smith and Tabitha left
around 1850 and went to Jacinto Mississippe, but as far as I know his son,
Jesse and his family stayed in Lincoln County),and Jesse Scroggins (Scoggins)
and Louisa J. Epps. Thanks.
Linda from Louisiana
I'm sorry Wayne, are you talking about the one URL that George sent?? I
have the actual Vol 25, both issues, is that what you're looking for?

To Fellow Shelton Researchers,
The following mail was forwarded to me by my cousin and partner, Garvin Fryar.
I think that it will have a very strong impact on this group also.
Hopefully it will
spur some additional original source document research, if for no other
reason than
to try to prove him wrong. Too much dependence has been placed on the World
Family Tree series and a number of books as "authoritative", without
verifying the
information through source document research. At best, these sources

Hope someone out there can help. I have a Bryant Cowell whose wife was Mary
Ann. Both said they were born in N.C. I 1st found them in Ark. then in Dyer
and Haywood Counties, Tn. The 1st census I found was 1850 Ark. and they had 2
boys, Franklin, age 6, born in Miss. and John W. age 1, born Ark. I never came
across anything that connected them to Lincoln County until today. I found a
marriage record that said Bryant Cowell married Mary Robinson, May 20, 1848 in
Lincoln county. Do you see my problem? Franklin
