In the 1940's in Haywood County, maybe in all of Tennessee, there was a 3
day delay between the time of buying a license and being married because a
test for syphilis was required and it took 3 days to get it back.
Many from West Tennessee went to Mississippi or Arkansas to get married.
In the 1960's there was no waiting period in Shelby County if you'd been a
resident for 2 years and were over 21 --- blood test still required, but
results were received immediately.

Debra told me about Bill U.'s pages for South Western KY. It's hard to
"do" Obion Co without also "doing" this area.
You can subscribe to the KYJacksonPurchase mail list from Bill's website:

His mail list is great and he's nice too and - very patient and
knowledgeable. Uses a lot of innovation and intelligence about how he
assists his Jackson Purchase researchers to help themselves.

I have a book called _The Bone Merchant & His Family_ that has given me tons

I am researching Henry and Brantley surnames in Obion County. John Thomas
Henry, born November 18, 1860 in Obion County, married Ada Lou Brantley,
born 1867. They migrated from Obion County to Texas about 1895. I am seeking
any information on them, especially information that might lead to names of
their parents.
