Greetings y'all,
The grant records are held by Tennessee State Library and Archives in
Nashville. Copies of grants may be ordered from them.
http://www.state.tn.us/sos/statelib/tslahome.htm
Any lookups would need to be done by a person in/near Nashville.
It is possible that Samuel Sistler could do a lookup for a fee. He might be
able to obtain a copy of the grant.

My gr-gr-gr-grandfather's name "Robert GORDON" was mentioned on TNGENWEB's
webpage--Goodspeed, History of Tennessee, Warren County.
I found Robert in the 5th paragraph and have included it at the end of this

In the sentence leading up to Robert's name, it says "Among those who
secured grants from North Carolina calling for lands in Warren County
were...Robert Gordon" and I now have 2 questions that I hope you might be

Greetings - I am new to this list, and am seeking the
location of Asbury Cemetery (which, according to the
cemetery transcription, is "twelve miles from
McMinnville in Third District"). I am in the area for
the weekend and would really love to visit the
cemetery, as a number of my relatives are buried
there.
If anyone could provide me with driving directions, I
would sure appreciate it!
Thanks,
Lesley A. Carter

Greetings all,
Advertisements are not allowed on the RootsWeb mailing
lists, except of course, the ads that RootsWeb itself places
on the postings.
Mr. Lewis, the person who just advertised his Cemetery book
on TNWarren, knows the rules well (he is a TNGenWeb County
Coordinator twice over) and apparently prefers to ignore
them.
As with all folk who use the list improperly, he gets
unsubscribed and blocked from future use.
Fred Smoot
TNWarren List-owner
Why is the advising of new books allowed on other lists and not on this
one? Thank you Mr.Lewis for informing us of a long awaited book now
being available. I saw no price quoted or store listed that sells it so
how is this commercial? Yes, a link was provided to the Coffee County
pages and there purchasing information was provided. Whats wrong with
that? You have to buy books somewhere. If we are to be denied knowledge
of new information in books being available, whats left?
The NEW 2nd Edition of the Cannon Co., TN. Cemetery Book is due back
from the printers soon. For details, please go to.....

I have updated my Franks Family of Caney Fork web site.
I also discovered a problem .... the data base was too large and all of it
was not visible. That has now been corrected and all of the names are now
visible.

Fred,
Thanks so much for handling this quickly before it escalates into days of
mundane opinions and etc. I belong to several lists and have seen it get out
of hand for as long as 2 weeks before I unsubscribed (My last good nerve was
at the point it wanted to leave too! .)
I don't equate Maxine's very generous donations of the Obits to selling any
book. She has contributed very generously, which is more than I can say in
regards to many of the immature, negative posting that are taking up
everyone's time
Greetings all,
The message below came to me from "not a subscriber" so I am
reposting the info here.

All,
Is anybody available to do Grant lookups? I currently live in Tokyo and
going to my local library is not really an option.
I have two grant numbers for "Robert GORDON" and I would like to find out
whatever I can about them, esp. where they might have been issued.
The Grant numbers are: "3277" & "3877"
Thanks in advance if you can help.
