1. RE: [TNWARREN] John J. Fisher, Sr. 1756-1837 [1]
Ken, I am sorry, John Sr. didn't have a son named Cornelius. I left out a generation. John Sr. to John Jr. then to Cornelius on down. Sorry about that. I kept looking at your info vs mine thinking it is the same....what am I missing. Then looked at the email and saw. Sorry. Second wife of John Sr. would be Elizabeth Tubb. I got some of my info from another researcher and some from the Smith County list and some from just plain looking. I have the articles from the History of Smith County book on the

There's been a lot of topic drift here -- more descriptive subject lines make it easier to decide which messages to open, and they also make it easier to browse the permanent archives. This is a request to please start a brand new thread when the subject changes (which also avoids the problem of messages which quote messages which quote messages...). Ann Turner

After years of searching someone brought to my attention that my John Haley was the son of Roiston Haley and Rebecca Tolliver Haley.Roiston's parents were George and I believe Lavicia Callahan. He was born in Warren County in 1835(or 36),then moved on to Rockcastle Ky. From there they moved to Lawrence Co,Mo. John later came to Claiborne Co,TN where he married Sarah Burk in 1857. I'm looking for any sort of information that can help me confirm that I do have the right John Haley. He appears in the 1860 Claib

12. [TNWARREN] Brewers from Randolph County NC to Warren County, TN 1840's [1]
Samuel Brewer Sr. apparently died about 1824 in Randolph County, NC, and his widow, Elizabeth, marred an Asahel (forget last name) there or in Warren County, TN about 1840-1849. They were in Warren County, TN by 1850, along with a younger Samuel Brewer. Also in Warren County, TN at that time was an Oliver Brewer who's daughter Mary Brewer married William HOOD, brother of Confederate General John Bell Hood. This Oliver's father was given as a "William" Brewer. I am wondering if Samuel Brewer Sr. and Wil

According to the DeKalb county website, the "county was formed by acts of the Legislature passed on Dec. 2, 1837, from portions of Smith, Warren, White and Cannon Counties." Here is a URL for a clickable Tennessee County Formation Maps. http://www.tngenweb.org/maps/county-ani/tn-maps/tn-cf.html Click on 1836 and also 1837 to see how/where DeKalb was formed. Pre-1838 land records for what became DeKalb would need to be found in the earlier counties. Tennessee State Library and Archives (TSLA) should have m

16. Re: [TNWARREN] A Fisher article? [1]
Sheila I found a good Fisher book in the early 80's, got my line out of it, and put it in the library at Smithville, TN. It could have something about John Jr. in it. Each of John Sr. children are covered. Some more than others. As with any book there are some things that needs to be checked. The book was written Margaret Fisher & her sister, Betty Fisher Cox in 1980. Lots of sources and documentation. Are you aware of this book? If not, I'll probably be in that area later this fall and could check it for y

If these folks were in Itawamba County, MS and Marion County, AL they may possibly be related to the Franks who were in Madison County, AL and later Lauderdale County, AL who were my ancestors. Reuban Davis (1794 Darlington SC - 1866 Tishomingo Co. MS) married in Madison County, AL in 1817 to Temperance FRANKS (born circa 1795 died 1838 in AL). Reuban then married in Lauderdale AL to Mrs. Elizabeth (Phillips) Wesson about 1840, and they moved to Tishomingo County, MS. I believe Temperance had a br

One of the Warren County Census Records showed an Elizabeth Cooksey, sister, living in the household with Charity Cooksey Faulkner. I took this as Elizabeth being the sister of Charity. I put Enoch Cooksey into Google or FamilySearch and found that someone had researched the Cooksey family extensively. Gosh, thank you. I did leave out John Jr. in my original email for which I am very sorry. Sometimes it is hard to keep it all straight. John Jr,'s son Cornelius b. 1805 d. bef. Aug. 1866 Putnam Co., TN married Unknown. They had James Harvey b. 1834 d. aft. 1861, he married Rebecca C. Winchester. They had Amanda L. b. 10 Nov. 1861 d. 12 Nov. 1913. Amanda first married, at age 15, to William Thomas Maynard b. 1858 d. ?. Amanda second married my great grandfather, James N. Nabors 27 Oct. 1889 in Smith Co., TN.

v. MOURNING FISHER, b. April 10, 1785, North Carolina. M. JEREMIAH FRANKS I have always had a problem with the age of Mourning Fisher, wife of Jeremiah Franks. Census reports consistently show that she was born later than 1785. 1830 Marion, AL census = age 30-40 not 45 1840 Itawamba, MS census = age 40-50 not 55 1850 Marion, AL census = age 57 not 65 1860 Izard, AL census = age 67 not 75 Dick Fox > Descendants of John J. My Bolin, is my Great Great Great Grandmother Naomi... I don't know her parents, names. I've often wondered if she is one of the daughter of Temperence but, haven't been able to confirm that. However when she got married, which I also don't have info on, she lived the cloest to Temeperence Bolin then anyone else did, just a few arces away almost connecting. Naomi/Nemoa married Tarlton Fry, and the had a daughter Mary before 1830. By 1830 they had sold the property and moved on to MO. and later on to
