Benjamin Todd and John J. Needles were the next settlers, both of whom came

Richard asked the sources of the info I posted. It's my own research so the
sources are really varied but for the most part, I've relied heavily on primary
source material.
I have a huge Word file that started out as the manuscript for an article I
wrote for the Maryland Genealogical Society Bulletin (Spring 1992) but since,
have just been posting odd bits and pieces.
The ancestors of this particular branch of the Todd family were incorrectly

I've got a more realistic idea.
The previous proposal was to form specific research groups:
1. Todds of KY
2. Todds of Eastern PA
3. Todds of OHIO
4. Todds of TN
5. Todds of SC/Ga
6. Todds of NC
and to have two levels of participation: (1) coordinator (2) research participant/helper.
I think we need a third category: (3) recruiter.
The role of the recruiter would be to periodically post an invitation to the project on list serves and message boards (not just rootsweb but the others genealogy, my f
I am seeking information on the above: Daniel was born about 1822 in South Carolina, coming to Tennessee about 1840. Daniel's parents are James Todd/Mary (at this time I do not know her maiden name). Daniel was in Henderson County according to the 1850 census. He appears in Gibson County on the registration for male voters. He died 1909, Roberta die, both are buried in the North Union Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery. I would be delighted to share information. Valerie val@cdsinet.net

Yes, please keep posting the ancestors of this Todd line, it is the most
information I have found to date on these families. Thank you very much for
your time and sharing your research with everyone.

Hello, Stephenie and others,
It is generally accepted that Lot Todd of Columbiana Co., OH, was the son of
Basil. Has anyone found written proof of that? Lot is not listed on the bill
of sale from Basil to Alexander and Samuel. I have been told that the proof
is found in an uncle's deed or something like that. Any information on this? I
have checked Todd deeds for Columbiana Co., OH. Lot was married first to
Hannah Ralphsnider; second to Hannah Witharow. Thank you. Sue Soltess
Does anyone on this list have a file they could "lend me" on the Fairfield Co, OH Todds. They seem to have come from Maryland and seem to be a lot of them.
I think it would be of help to me as we gear up to do our Maryland research.

The Lancelot Todd who married Rachel Warfield was unquestionably and
undeniably the son of Lancelot Todd and Elizabeth Rockhold. I suspected that the
written histories that claimed he was the son of Lancelot and Sarah Phelps were
wrong because both he and his brother John were always in the wrong place and
related to the wrong people to have been children of Lancelot and Sarah Phelps
Todd. But it wasn't until 1992 when I found this 1772 court case John Cockey

Basil Todd was born about 1762 probably in that part of Anne Arundel County
that is now Howard County, Maryland. He took out a marriage license in
Frederick County on 29 August 1782 with Sarah Grimes. That same day a license was
issued in Frederick County to an Andrew Todd and Elizabeth Sipes, relationship if
any, unknown. By the 1790 census, Basil Todd was in Montgomery Co., Maryland
with 2 male children under 16 years, and 2 females, one o
Hi,
I still continue to be stuck on my ancestor William TODD who was last seen
in the 1850 census in Huntington, Long Island, N.Y. He was born around 1783
in either England or Scotland, and married Bathsheba Briggs in 1807 in a
little church just a few blocks from the World Trade Center.
I only know of one child, though they must have had others. Their daughter

Hi folks,
I got a fair amount of response to my proposal to do a cooperative research project, but almost everyone wanted to search states and counties not in the area of the project my group is working on.
So, how about if we organized some "spin offs"?
How many of you with access to a local Mormon library would like to participate in any of the following projects:

When I was at the Maryland State Archives in 1992, I found a case in Chancery
that is proof that this Lancelot Todd who married Rachel Warfield is the son
of Capt. Lancelot Todd and Elizabeth Rockhold. It all centered over title to a
tract of land named "Rebecca's Lott". Capt Lancelot Todd left that tract of
land to his two sons, Lancelot and John Todd. Later, Lancelot went to court
over it and his son Alexander, aged 38 years old in January 1775 (remember, the
new year started in March in 1775, so t
