Hi, I knew some of the families you mention in the obituary from Valera,TX, The Brimers, Pauleys Martins. The Fletcher girls attended the same high school in the mid to late 1940's. We all attended Centennial High School approx 4 miles north of Valera. I attended high school with Wallace Brimer. You will find the Fletcher girls on Classmates.com web site as having attended that high school. I am a former native of Coleman County and knew or knew of all those Valera,TX people

Debbie :)
I have made good cemetery pictures with a little old 110 Kodak. But changing
color pictures in a computer program will not get you pictures you can use for
Historical Designation. It is my understanding that they must be photographs
printed in silver halide. But by cleaning them up do you mean adjusting the
brightness. That can be done in the studio too.

Seems like we have a place here in TX which tells about the meaning of Tombstone markings. Our own Coryell GenWeb. Ya'll enjoy

Maybe me indeed . I know about the Indian groups . They sponcer legislation
that would severely effect private property rights . A recent proposed bill
was so vaguely written that any artifact found anywhere could have been
considered a funerary object and would have been able to have been claimed
by them. Farther, it would have cost private property owners much money in
dealing with them. The net effect would be that artifact collectors would
stop reporting their finds and property owner too, would have cl

Hi Donna,
I did get out and did a cemetery in Hill County. I have finished
Jawbone and have to put it in order now. I also went to another one which
I will put a note out later about another cemetery I visited and was
totally upset about.

Newspaper Obituary for Kitty Collier Fletcher -
Newspaper name and date is not known,
but it's likely that it was from San Angelo Evening Star or Concho Herald:
A tragedy of pain and death
depressed the people of our
town and community Thurs-
day, July 2nd, when a lighted
gasoline iron exploded, while
Mrs. Kitty Fletcher was prim-
ing it, burning her severly.
She was rushed to the Overall
Hospital where, notwithstand-
ing expert medical attention,
she succumbed to the shock at
1:20 p.m., July 4th.
I've seen many camera discussions on this site but was not close enough to
needing one yet to pay detailed attention...
We have a Jr. Hi. history club helping us catalog a cemetery. They seem to
be real pros!! They have digitial cameras. Will pictures from a digital
camera with b/w film be acceptable for certification???
Any help appreciated. Thanks.

People....
Donna is one very busy lady so I've started building my own site for the
"Gordon Family Cemetery" you can see the beginnings at the following URL.

By the way, I'll be listing the people and dates under each stone because I
know they're not very readable

This is what I got from Ned earlier this morning.
Yes, Ric, that's correct. The instructions state: "Representative views of
the entrance, all characteristic features, and interesting or important
gravestones should be included." This designation is for the cemetery as a
whole so the photos should document the cemetery to give the viewer a feel
for the character of the cemetery. We do ask for photographs of individual
gravestones but we are not asking you to get a professional ph
David Calame :
What do you mean by "chase down these kinds of cases" ?
Any information you can provide on grave desecration
will be appreciated .
David is speaking about the tendency of law enforcement to look the other
way or fail to prosecute with earnestness when the ocassional case of
cemetery vandalism reaches their attention. David would prefer that law
enforcement would follow through on each and every one of these cases,
and apply the appropriate penalties again
It's the same one I've been working on all this time. I think I'm only good
for one cemetery in MY lifetime. ;^)

I have the records of DEED where the land was bought and I have the Will of
the land owner specifying the size of the cemetery (75x75 ft) and that it
was ALWAYS to be a family cemetery.

I would like to give another lifesaving measure. If you are
choking and are alone, bend over a kitchen chair, so you get an upward thrust
just below the breast bone. You can try to give the upward thrust with your
fists clasped together and pushing in this area. You are unable to speak, if
choking, so the phone is out as far as answering questions, but call 911
anyway and they probably can find you. As far as
what is written on a death certificate, there

Here in AZ we recently just got a bill passed for a new State Archive
Building, by voicing our desire for the bill to be passed. We called the
Senators and House members and then when we could, we received names and
e=mail addresses of the Committee which was voting for the bill's passing.
IT WORKS! Let them know how you feel.
