Unfortunately I do not know Mollie Register's maiden name. On her
Confederate Pension application, she says that she was born in Butler
County AL., and that she married Maxwell Register on the 16th of November
1887 in Montgomery County TX. Authorities in Montgomery County TX
say there is no marriage between she and Maxwell recorded there. On the
pension application she states her age as 68 yrs, 3 months & 6 days. The
date on the pension application is January 21, 1927.

Thank you Ann, I was on the list of blacksheep several years ago - posted my
story and received several good directions. But, I was on so many lists by
2000, I finally had to unsub from many of them ...but, I will join again
right now as I'm sure there are lots of new members by now. Thank you for
the reminder. I am so grateful for rootsweb.

I am searching for the grave of my great grandmother's brother and his wife. Their
names are:
MAXWELL "MACK" REGISTER and wife MOLLIE REGISTER
Maxwell Register died March 1, 1905 in Brazos County Texas.
Mollie Register applied for Confederate pension at Bryan, Brazos County TX
and was approved. She died at the Confederate Women's Home in Austin, TX
on January 17, 1939. The cost of her burial included $5.50 for a Railroad
ticket. I can only assume her body was shipped back to Bryan for burial.

Ms. Jacobs: Thanks for your mail post on the little girl's missing headstone.
Such items are what this mail list is all about, people preserving,
restoring and caring for Texas Cemeteries.
Please give additional information as to where the little girl's headstone
was found...where the grandfather's headstone was moved to, etc.
There are probably some folks on this list, that live in the area, that
might be willing to track down the stone and get it where it belongs.
Either send the info. to the list, or to
Doris,
Thanks for telling me about the dangers of BlackSheep.

Perhaps you remember my inquiry to you last month about speaking to The
Humble Area Genealogical Society.
Is there anyone else who has a suitable program that might be considered as
a speaker?
Most of the unfilled meetings will be early next year and in the spring. Any
assistance or suggestions will be most appreciated.

What a story! You would definitely qualify for Rootsweb's Black Sheep Society! It is a very interesting list. You might try posting your information there. I had a great-grandfather who was a bigamist and we found his other family by posting a notice there!
Here's the address of the Society:

Martha - yes, the name is unusual. Once learned, few people forget it. I was
named for a friend of my mother's - a French girl.

Paul, RE: the Morse (McFee) cemetery. I have a complete research file on
this.
The cemetery is in Reserve B, West Oaks subdivision, Houston. The lawsuit
began in the early 1990s against the California trustee for West Oaks II, wanted
to dig up any bodies found. I am not sure, as I've not had contact with the
property owners in quite a while, but that lawsuit may have been concluded.

A headstone was placed at the gate of the Hunter Cemetery, Dundee Rd.,
Longview, TX a couple of months ago that reads: A. D. McCutchan, B. 1836,
D. 1871. This stone does not belong to the Hunter Cemetery, but I believe
someone left it there in hopes that I would find the rightful cemetery
location. I have contacted Rootsweb Site Coordinators for Gregg, Harrison,
and San Augustine Counties ... so far, A. D. McCutchan has been traced to
the 1850 Census in Harrison County as a boy of 14 years of age. Then,

Only four cemeteries in Brazos County are inventoried, listed and available
on the Internet.
While others have been inventoried and published in books, they have been
copyrighted by the printer. I will attempt a lookup at the Carnegie
Library, but can not promise rapid action. What was Mrs. Mollie Register's
maiden name? E. Sanders, College Station, TX.

I am not related to the McCutchan's. I don't have an answer as to his
burial place, but maybe someone will recognize these names and remember
something. I have access to census records and thought I would look around.
Thanks for reading this.

I found a bunch of headstones in a creek once. Took my dad and I awhile to
find their original homes but we did , and they were all from the same place
in Gonzales Co.,Tx..
Then there's the one where I found two headstones literally on the side of
a dirt road in Austin Co.,Tx. One was the father and the other was his
little girl that had died very young. I did find the family on the internet
and they moved gggg grandpa's stone but not the little girl! Go figure...
