Texas was not a state in 1840 -- so no 1840 census. Anyway, the first
census where families were listed is 1850.

Note: This is a 2nd list since the first list did not "echo" back.
Looking for J. D. PATTON (always went my his initials J.D.) 21 yrs in this
census, may be married to a MITTIE ???, and his sister VALDA WENELLE PATTON
( 18 yrs ). Valda will most likely be living in the household of her
brother (just before her marriage to Alva D. Bryant).
