2. [TX-LOOSE-ENDS] Southern Music Review [1]
Music Review by Lynna Kay Shuffield Two amazing voices are featured on Deborah Brinsons new CD album "Let Dixie Remember." One is Deborahs clear as a bell sweet lyrical voice and the other is her harp. There is no doubting the sheer quality of Deborahs performance and the sole instrumental accompaniment of the harp only enhances her voice. Singing the music produced during The War Between the States, Deborah delights audiences with heartfelt performances of period pieces, origi

5. On the Road Again [1]
02/16/2006 - Our Loose Ends Genealogy Column On the Road Again To quote Willie Nelson, I have been on the road again on a genealogy research trip. My dad and I flew to Jackson, MS to do research at the Mississippi State Archives < http://www.mdah.state.ms.us/ >. Well, I did research and dad went to the local sites, museums and zoo. We were lucky to begin planning our trip in December 2005 when we were able to get $34 tickets on Southwest Airlines from Houston to Jackson! What a savings
6. Rebecca Davis Cave [1]
LynnaKay, I saw a little blurb in the Chronicle yesterday about Abilene, TX celebrating its 125 yr. anniversary in April. My husband is related to Rebecca Davis Cave. She was the sister to his grandfather, John Houston Davis who rode horseback from Springfield, MO to TX. In a little article about Rebecca, she says they rode the train as far as it could go, and then had to walk the rest of the way to Abilene which was a tent city. The rails had been placed on the ties, but not nailed down. The article s

Thanks so much for the information on the Caves. My niece, Sharolyn Wood, had told me you were related to the Caves. My husband's mother, Gladys Mae (May) James, is tied to Milam County. His grand parents, Robert Franklin James & Gabriel Cannady and at least one of their sons are buried in the cemetery behind the Methodist (?) church in Milano, Milam Co, TX. I have forgotten if Fred James /and/or Troy James is buried with the parents. Sue

14. New Development with GenConnect Boards [1]
New Development with GenConnect Boards On June 14th, GenConnect, RootsWeb and Ancestry.com announced they would be pulling down all of the query and data boards for every county, state, country and surname. We were promised a new and improved system to post our queries and data! Instead, on June 21st we were served, in my opinion, a homogenous bowl of slop! In reality, all of the query and data boards (i.e., Obituaries, Pensions, Wills, Biographies, Bibles, & Deeds) from GenConnect, RootsWeb, Ancest

Column 06/24 The 2001 Flood As many of you have heard, Houston and 20 surrounding counties suffered flooding in excess of 32-inches in a 24-hour time-period. Some homes and businesses suffered a few inches of water while others had 10-foot of water! Following a disaster, people often lose family heirlooms and other valuables to water damage.
