Dear List Members:
Every year around this time, I post a call for an annual "roll call." Since
so many families get new computers around the holidays and, because the
period between December 15 and January 1 usually witnesses the largest
growth of lists, this seems the perfect time to do it.
So, between now and January 1, please feel free to post your "roll call"
post.
What is a roll call post?
A roll call post is one in which you list the surnames you are researching

I am looking for the relatives of my maternal great grandmother, Sarah Strain. She was married to Charlie Gamble in 1897 in Bowie Co. Tx. They later lived in Red River Co. I have found names of some Strains in the same area but I don't know anything about them, that would connect them to my great grandmother. I believe they were all farmers. Sarah was a church goer because my grandmother, Lessie (Jackie) Gamble, used to tell how the preacher often came to their house for fried chicken after church on S

their genealogy research. I believe we have developed a tool to help them.

Greetings, Listers:
I have noticed recently that the number of subscribers for all of the lists
I administer has increased by leaps and bounds over the past few weeks.
With the holidays over, I know many people have unpacked those new computers
and gained access to the World Wide Web and with it, the wonderful world of
internet genealogy.
So, for you newbies (and old hats), I wanted to take a moment to introduce
myself and share briefly the policies for the lists I administer.
My name is Vince Leibowitz

Greetings, List Members:
As you know, for the past several years, roll calls have been initiated
the list during June and December. Our December roll call is usually
the largest because so many people with new computers or new Internet
software make their way on to the lists.
As part of the roll-call each member is invited (not required) to post a
message with a brief synopsis of the ancestors they are researching,
including relevant dates, places, etc. to the list. An example would be
as follows:
James M. Hinson/Henson came from Stanley Co. NC in
the late 1880s or 1890. His wife was Elizabeth J.
Hudson and his three daughters were: Eva Samantha,
Minnie Villeti, and Adella. They came to Leon Co.,
Centerville. Eva married Duncan Campbell there in
1893, Minnie married Bud Ainsworth from Limestone Co.,
and Adella married John Brown from Al. On the 1900
census they were share croppers near Guys store and
Centerville. Adella and John Brown lived with her
parents, James and Elizabeth Hinson. John's brothe

There may have been other Frazier family members already living in the area. They had a sister Mary Frazier Casey living in McLennan County as well.
