Nels was in the Army Airborne during WW2. He started out in the 17th Airborne Division/139th Engineer Battalion and possibly transferred to the 101st or the 82nd Airborne when the 17th was disbanded in 1945. He would have been in the Engineer Battalion or HQ & S.

In my parents things was a 5 x 7 picture of Homer CONNER/CONNOR'S wife (I do not remember her name) and two children--a boy and a girl. The children look to be about 3 to 4 years of age each and the picture was probably taken in the 1940's. I would like to get this picture back to the family.

My great-grandmother's maiden name was Francina Lester (1850-1913). According to the 1860 Anderson County census she had several siblings: Florence (8 years old at the time), Belvina, 6, and Robert, 3.

These families were simply not counted. This is when Anderson County was formed out of Houston county,and the census takers (I guess) simply didn't know if they were in the territory thry were supposed to be in or not. Now that said, that only leaves us land records and tax lists to determine our ancestors by. So

I saved his tax lists to files, but in the 1850 census of Anderson county, there were hundreds of families that didn't get counted, my family included,thought I know they were there because of land deeds and tax lists. There is also nothing in the census records listed for Isiah Baty in any census list from 1850 to 1

I am so glad to know there were families that were not counted on the census polls in Anderson County. I have been searching and I know they were there, but I have not found them on the census I am looking for. What other avenues are there available besides the tax polls and land rec
The 1846 Poll List for the Republic of Texas shows a J. Fitzgerald in San
Augustine County. Only possibility I saw. Nothing close for Kate Ewing
