3. Re: [TXBELL-L] Surnames for Bell County [1]
One other note...Milam County Courthouse burned many years ago and there was a great loss of records. I am not telling you that it is useless to search in Milam...some records were saved and some were restored....I don't remember when it burned...maybe Bill can tell us. Why is Milam so important to Bell Co. history and records......remember, Bell was Milam County originally. Ann -----Original Message----- From: MaryAnn Bartlett To: TXBELL-L@rootsweb.com Date: Fr

8. Re: [TXBELL-L] Bell County Original Land Owners [1]
I think I put the CHALK information up yesterday...I think. I am trying to put up the names I find from The Story of Bell County that some of you sent to the Bell County List. In some cases you may see information for another family but read through it anyway because I sometimes run across your name as the bride or groom of an offspring. This is not the only source available in Bell County...right now I am more or less confined to the house and this is all I have to refer to until next week. I have a fr

11. [TXBELL-L] Bell County History Books [1]
Howdy All.. I visited the Bell County Museum today and was able to purchase copies of both the 2-volume set *Story Of Bell County*, and the Tyler book, *History of Bell County*. They're both hardback items, so they're not cheap! The *History* is written from a 1936 general date, and the *Story of Bell County* contains biographies of Bell County citizens. If you'd like lookups from these two resources, volunteers are listed on the Lookups page at the Bell County Genealogy & History site: http://www.ro

14. Re: [TXBELL-L] Re: {not a subscriber} Belton Early Families [1]
There are STOKES still living here in Bartlet and there is a family plot where several are buried in the Bartlett Cemetery. I gathered information on them for a relative that lives in NC, I believe. I have a copy of The Story of Bell County, TX by the Historical Commission and it has STOKES, BIGHAM and some of the other names you mentioned. Belton Library has a copy of the two volumes as well as the roughly-bound original copies. I also have a copy of the 3-volume set about Bartlett, Bell Co., TX that E

Howdy Jody! You've got quite a bit of connection with Bell County... I'll copy your query also over to the Query Board of the Bell County Genealogy page, as those are indexed differently than messages on this list, and you might get some different responses. Would you like to be subscribed to the TXBELL list? I haven't found other places for Bell County local history books, but there are some at the Bell County Museum. (I did a quick check of amazon.com and they did have one of the Bell County histor

Howdy, Listers! In talking with members of the West Bell Genealogical Society, and the Bell County Historical Commission, it seemed like a good idea to *gell* my suggestion about a concerted effort to send material to the TexGenWeb Archives, and to put information in the WBGS and BCHC web page archives. Projects begun this year, and earlier, seem to be obliged to have the term *2000* in them somewhere, so I'm suggesting that the TXBELL listers participate in a WEB2000 project, along with anyone else

Hello everyone, This was sent to another list that I am on. I can't put my finger on it, but something in here is ringing bells for me. I thought I would send it to the BELL list due to the fact they were from Bell County area also. I hope someone out there can pen down this ringing bell and help them out. They left all the names out.....we can only guess. If any one hasn't seen it -- Vol. 2, No. 13, 31 March 1999 (second Blue Moon of 1999) had a really nice success story and all 'blamed' on this list and a particular researcher.
